Great vibe & good food.

Very basic (mattresses hard/with hard springs), but ok for us (family with 2 teenagers). Every day you get a new bottle of water, when you put the towels outside, you get new ones. Very nice garden, terrace on the water, you can swim in the river near the terrace (don't go too far for the strong current). Good location of hostel near restaurants, shops, night market, station. When we were there (end of July) the hostel's restaurant was closed due to low season and there were not many guests. Around 8 p.m. there is a loud booze cruise on the river, which lasts 5 minutes. Otherwise it is quiet, I even slept without earplugs. They have a shower with hot water.

And the garden!!! Along the river !!! GORGEOUS !!! EVERYTHING IS AT THE TOP!!!

Rooms are a bit lacking and outdated but lovely location for great rate!

Great value for money. The garden is so pretty that there is no place to compare accommodations for price. Two people shared a second-floor room with air conditioning, and even though it was cheaper than a guest house, it was in a space that was like a 4-star hotel garden. Although there are some facilities and equipment, I recommend it as a cost-effective accommodation.There is a 7-Eleven next door, and there is a restaurant in front that is good for breakfast and a free and friendly restaurant where you can enjoy improvisation at night. suggestion!

The owners have not extended the old lease agreement with Christa (known to many from the original Jolly Frag) and have taken the facility back into their own hands. So what has changed positively or negatively up to today 2024?Well, the side cottages have been shortened by half. Only 4 rooms next to each other instead of the previous 8. Two floors remain. Walls are now bricked, the toilets have been replaced and the floors are tiled. The roofs were also replaced. Two wooden huts were set up for this purpose. Are beautiful. Lying towards the river. The one-story transepts were also renovated. Some rooms have air conditioning. The plan is to equip all rooms with aircon.It has become significantly quieter. What used to make the Jolly Frog special was the many people from all over the world who drank their beer here in the garden and exuded joy in life. That is no longer the case today. Doesn't have to be a disadvantage.The food was also known for its quality and the two dining rooms were full every evening. In some cases you had to wait for free places. That is no longer the case today. People tend to close the restaurant immediately after the last guest at 7 p.m. Breakfast only from 10 a.m. Somehow the excellent restaurant is now just an appendix of the residential complex. Too bad. I don't like eating here anymore either, because even the simplest dishes like Fride Rice taste better on the street and are prepared more lovingly. Too bad. While there used to be nice music playing in the background, today you sit in silence across from each other in a Lojal with no atmosphere.If it weren't for the beautiful garden here, which the "old" owner attaches great importance to maintaining and which you can't find in other residential complexes, then you would have many other alternatives in the surrounding area.In the early days there were two floating platforms on the river for sunbathing, relaxing or swimming. Today there is only one platform and it is covered. Unfortunately, little thought is given to the needs of guests who might want to go into the water. The welded ladder is placed clumsily and carelessly. So it's difficult to get out of the water.The current staff, most of whom are family members, is friendly. Most people make an effort to put on a Thai smile. But only most of them. Others can't do it at all and exude a more European coolness, which I personally don't like at all. They are out of place in an area that focuses on customer convenience. You have to live with it if you want it.Since this spot has become more of a place of peace today than before (even if the opposite bank is now also occupied by restaurants and event spaces), it will remain my number 1 for the future.

Very nice quiet area, perfect for relaxing

Beautiful ambience in the middle of Kanchanaburi. Extremely friendly staff. You can rent scooters on site, which are in very good condition. Wonderful for backpackers

Nice viewof the river. The rooms are clean. Food in their restaurant is great and affordable. The staff and owner are very friendly and helpful. Well recommended
