We have recently returned from our second 3 month winter stay at Sengjan Garden (are we lucky or what?) and are already planning our next trip there next winter. For us, it is absolute perfection. Away for most of the cold UK winter to a beautiful place that has everything we need – a lovely villa with kitchen area and balcony, lush gardens, an immaculate swimming pool, great food, interesting but not overdeveloped locality (including lots of elephants nearby!) … I could go on forever. As pensioners we don't ourselves want exciting nightlife but for those who do, bustling Ao Nang is only 15 minutes away, and Krabi and its airport only 30.Our idea of heaven is to wake up every morning to heart-lifting sunshine, spend an hour or two on our balcony drinking tea, have a few hours reading on a sunbed by the pool, swim a few lengths, eat lunch, have an afternoon snooze … you can see where I'm going with this can't you?! As animal lovers, one of the great joys is the daily morning “courtesy call” by the resident Sengjan dog and cat. This activity is entirely optional – not your option, but theirs. If you've got some tasty treats they'll be there. If you haven't, forget it!We have travelled quite a lot during our lives but Sengjan is the only place in the world where we can really, truly, totally relax. Above all else, it is the weather difference which is the key – from mid-Nov through to mid-Feb we have enjoyed warmth and sunshine with little (if any) rain every single day, and the contrast between a UK winter and a Thai winter lifestyle makes it so worthwhile. If you're able, it's worth thinking about isn't it?Once again during this last visit we were amazed at the number of couples and families, of all ages, who had booked in just for a couple of nights and who wished they had booked for longer. Many of them extended their stay if accommodation was available, and others returned at a later date. Such is the allure of Sengjan. The friendliness and warmth that you receive here from Ken and Ralph is remarkable. There is nothing they won't do to make sure that you have the best holiday ever. From organising trips, to serving you food and drinks whenever you want them, to taking your clothes to be laundered, to engaging you in hilarious chats – the list is endless. They are helped by Joy, who gives the best massages ever, and Dam, who cleans your villa so beautifully. There is no need to ever leave this place, but if you want to get out and about you can hire a bike or a moped here (or Ken/Ralph will arrange car transport) to investigate the local markets, go on half day boat trips out to the islands, or visit the several quiet and beautiful beaches which are within a couple of miles of the property. It's difficult to express how wonderful it is here, but so many excellent reviews can't be wrong!Especially if you think you might be interested in an extended stay, contact Sengjan to negotiate a long-stay package offer during next winter. Forget Villa Bougainvillea though – it's already booked!
