Lovely experience to stay in a Balinese home arrangement with balinese family while having your own privacy. The owner grandma is a very friendly lady. She speaks good english and has alot of interesting stories to share. Booked a standard room with Aircon with them and stayed longer than planned. Highly recommended.

Family run, ,'royal'/keraton compound with multiple homes for extended family. It's a dusty, cracking and some things falling apart but basic hygiene & cleanliness is maintained daily. Lady boss is very friendly and likes to have conversations. Best is the garden with pond and sound of water feature is very conducive for sleeping! Dogs can get pretty rowdy and territorial when still unfamiliar with guests! Feel a little unsafe with flimsy locks on doors and as solo female, but it seems to be a norm everywhere with very basic locking systems and overall security of compound.

I am experiencing some kind of scam in Bali. I am not sure what is the point but I also have read many reviews for another homestays around Ubud that people book from a website but after arriving to property they been refused to stay due to inavailability. Rooms not clean at all. The rooms are only neatly arranged but not clean at all. Pillows, mattresses all look like they haven't been replaced or cleaned. When asked to be cleaned, he was answered curtly, "OUR ROOM IS CLEAN, IF IT'S NOT SUITABLE, YOU CAN LEAVE OUR HOTEL". really unprofessional, just because we had paid in advance for a 3 night stay. Really not a recommendation, hopefully other guests don't experience the same thing as me

First time staying at this place... and really amazed. The feel of the Balinese kingdom is still strong. Greeted directly by the owner. Very polite and friendly. Comfortable rooms, beautiful views, and a truly extraordinary experience. Because you really stay in the kingdom.This is really special for me.I like the characteristics of this place which are truly authentic.Really feel the feel of the kingdom of the past...For friendly prices, the service is very good. It didn't feel like 4 days had gone by so quickly, I didn't feel like going home, our family really felt at home staying at Puri Mandala Kaleran 😢 thank you Mrs. Cok for accepting us like our own family, that's what makes Puri Mandala Kaleran extraordinary and we hope to be able to go back on holiday again Go to Bali and stay at Puri Mandala Kaleran again.

Do you realize that you will literally be staying in a Balinese temple or rather an authentic Balinese palace?! And that the princess of the Peliatan district lives here! This place oozes history, and we had no idea, it was an incredible surprise! When our car arrived at this "hotel" I thought the driver had made a mistake, until I saw the hotel sign next to the temple. The owner is super friendly, simple, welcoming and communicative. She explained the importance of her family, how they introduced Balinese dance, including taking it to other countries such as the USA/Canada and even Europe. Sleeping in this hotel gave us an incredible feeling of peace, serenity and contemplation, it was an incredible experience. Not to mention that it is close to the center of Ubud, close to the bus (from what we saw, tourists don't pay), close to the monkey forest. And the price is excellent, we love it. Not to mention the breakfast which was delicious!We only had a small problem with the bathroom sink, it was leaking when we turned on the tap, but they fixed it as soon as we reported it.

Every time I visit Ubud I stay here at the palace of Peliatan with Ibu Rai. Just out of Ubud centre, you will enjoy a real Balinese experience - staying with Ibu and her family. It’s quiet, the rooms are clean and spacious, and the breakfasts are great! I highly recommend coming to stay. You’ll be treated like one of the family.
