Hotel Joy (호텔 조이)

wish I can give zero star. I booked this place in case there are no lodging on post. The post did have one so I didnt get an authorization to stay here. I never got to check in, and they charged me full 3 nights (which I am aware it is written on a policy). Their reception is like a machine and wont play other than the written policy. wasted $300 so quickly. also, they dont speak good English.

**Outstanding Experience at Joy Hotel**I always have an amazing stay at the Joy Hotel in South Korea! The hotel offers everything you need for a comfortable and hassle-free experience. The rooms are incredibly clean and well-maintained, and the WiFi is fast and reliable, which was a big plus for me.What really stood out was the hospitality. The staff are incredibly friendly and go above and beyond to make sure you're well taken care of, even providing meals during holidays, which made me feel right at home.The location is also fantastic. It's easy to find—just look up when you're close, and you'll see the hotel's name displayed prominently on the building.Overall, I highly recommend Joy Hotel for anyone looking for great service, comfort, and convenience. I'll definitely be returning!

I stayed here two nights due to unavailability on post. Located towards the corner of "American village" or "ville," this hotel is a convenient 5-7 minute walk to USAG Humphrey's Walk-in gate and set back far enough from the main portion of the "ville" that noise isn't a concern.The couple that operates the place was exceptionally helpful and are conversational in English. Rooms were clean with most convenient amenities provided or available on request. A great, affordable option for solo business travelers only staying a few days.Note: the hotel is adjacent to one of the side streets that hosts a farmers market on days ending in 3 or 8. Expect high foot traffic on those days from about 0700 until about 1800, which will also complicate matters in the event you have a vehicle.

Good room size for Korea and awesome staff. Easy access to many establishments in the area and a quick 5-10 min walk gets you to Camp Humphries via the walk through gate.

Perfect place to stay, super close to walking gate. Wonderful room and run by great, accommodating hosts!

This room exceeded my expectations. The rooms were cleaned very well everyday. The staff were super friendly and helpful.

Hotel Joy is exactly as described and expected, and then some due to consideration and attentiveness. While there were some cleanliness concerns like hair in the bathroom, the room was overall well cleaned and well equipped with useful products (like hairspray) that may have been forgotten. Amenities like the full fridge were greatly appreciated and the water ran wonderfully hot. Even though we stayed through a full booking, we heard minimal activity outside the building and from the other residents which helped us get the rest we needed. The front desk was kind and considerate over a night being missed due to flight delays, and we had no problem extending our check out time which was much appreciated. Overall, we’re happy to have stayed there and we’d recommend Hotel Joy to anyone needing to stay in the area.

The hotel is close to camp humphreys, and the front desk staff was very kind.The room was very spacious and clean. It looks more like a home rather than a hotel.I will say that in my experience of being in korea, I have stayed in nicer hotels for half the price. If one absolutely needs to be close to base and doesn't mind spending a lot of money, then it is okay. If not, I would go closer to Pyeongtaek station and get a hotel there. I didn't really like spending so much money and then having such an early checkout time. The checkout time and the high charge of checking out later wasn't explained until the room had already been paid for. Once this information was told to me, I wanted to go to a different hotel, but it was nonrefundable.I would suggest only making a reservation if one is planning on staying multiple days.

TLDR: AMAZING stay due to the staffI was visiting to stay on the base and pretty much had no idea what I was walking into. I stayed for about a week in June of 2021.First the lady and man that were the managers (I'm not sure but they were there everyday) were the absolute BEST. They told me about places to go, things to do, but then absolutely recommended the best restaurants to go to. I was so happy they told me about this one steak house. I love Korean BBQ and I forget the name of the place but it was about a 10 minute drive away. Slam DUNK! They also told me about places to stay away from.Because I can't read Korean the front desk manager helped me set up the washing machine that I had in my room as well as figure out the AC. The AC was wild because I had to put it on super blast or I was hot but thank god the manager was able to help me.The location is about a 6 minute walk from the walk on gate and you are pretty much in the heart of tourist strip which is nice because there are a bunch of great restaurants and some tourist shopping if that is what you are looking for. If you are using the busses on base you can normally get to it after about 10 minutes of walking from the hotel door. They also were able to call me a taxi to go where I needed to go and were very helpful with everything.The room I got was a slight upgrade as it had a washing machine in it and I'm really glad I did because it was hotter than hell in June there (go figure right ?). The manager let me record a video of how to operate the washing machine and turn on the AC so I didn't mess up the buttons. Bed was nice and I had a pretty large tv in it. There was also a desktop computer that I could use if I wanted. Wifi directions were printed on the router pretty clearly and I didn't have any problems setting it up. Bathroom was nice. I brought my own slippers but they supply you some if you need. Big refrigerator as well if you need to store anything. The room pretty much powers up by you putting your room key into the handle when you walk in which starts the lights and the AC.You can look out over the surrounding area but it just looks like pretty much any small city. I do not believe there is parking but I could be wrong.Overall, Hotel Joy was amazing for the location, price, amenities but I will say the greatest thing were the staff there. If I have to go back I am definitely staying there again. I can't recommend this place enough if you are traveling to this area. The train station I think isn't too far away. Its about an hour or so from the airport by car.

They were very kind but I don’t think I will stay there more than one night if I have to. I believe the whole area is limited with hotels.
