Interesting place. A little quirky. I wouldn't pay too much attention to the other commenters about the owner. He seems pleasant enough for the place.

I really liked the YOLO Guest House, great location and cool design. The guest house has clear rules that you should adhere to. But people with decency and sense stick to such rules one way or another. The fact that some people complain in the comments just shows that many tourists lack decency and common sense. As a Swiss, I can therefore recommend this guest house to every Central European.

I stayed at Yolo Guesthouse some months ago.I experienced the best Seould had to offer.Regrettably, I felt supervised by the owner who seemed to adopt the approach that anticipatory breaches of hotel policy are tantamount to actual breaches. This clouded the period of the stay. I've only just seen other reviews which seem to demonstrate a certain intemperate quality, not focused on making people feel welcome. He may not be in the right game.A few items that would certainly improve the quality and safety of the rooms and one would expect could be completed in 12 months:1. The shower water empties out over the toilet. It is slippery and a hazard and requires laborious squigee work after every shower which does not completely remove the slip and fall hazard. A second drain could easily be installed that junctions with the existing drain.2. The loft staircase balustrade does not meet building code in many western countries. It does not prevent people falling through the space. This can easily be remedied with a middle bar or perspex.3. The entry point to the stairs from the loft stairs does not have a barrier preventing falls into the stairwell and would not meet the building code in many western countries. This can easily be remedied by the balustrade continuing into the loft bedroom.4. Towels smell of BO. Unusual situation.I hope travelers are aware so that they make informed decisions.Hope it helps.

Excellent location. The manager with an unpleasant attitude, without kindness or desire to help. We booked 2 double rooms (2 adults in each) and he told us that only 1 adult and 1 child were allowed (clearly we booked 2 adults in each room). If we wanted to put 2 adults in each room, he would charge us around $140 US dollars per extra night, with the only condition that we did not make any reviews.I feel like this place is a scam. The experience that happened to us, and the reviews that I have seen, indicate that they want to charge extra for any inconvenience that they indicate. Be careful when booking. Good neighborhood, but YOLO guesthouse has to improve.

Thin walls, I can hear the noise of water running, people walking around, and kids crying loudly for hours. What floor or room is this noise coming from? I don't know, the walls are thin everywhere.Starting around 4am in the morning, the room gets bright because of the thin window shields. I woke up around 5am every morning because of both of these things..

The location is undoubtedly good, just at Exit 3 of Myeongdong. It takes about 5 minutes to walk. It is a bit uphill, but it is not difficult to walk while pushing luggage. The room is generally clean. Because you cannot eat in the room, there is a public restaurant in B1 that you can use.The fly in the ointment is the attitude of the B&B operators, who are not very friendly to guests, especially those who do not speak English well. In addition, the operators are not very reflective when responding to negative reviews, whether on GOOGLE or booking websites (such as booking). Instead of focusing on their own problems, they will use other things to blame the travelers who gave negative reviews. For example: I don’t speak English well, and he teased me about my poor English. But in fact, I gave a negative review just to point out the problems of the hotel operator and provide reference for others. I hope the hotel operator can improve the problem. I never thought about having a written battle with the B&B operator. I suggest that the hotel operator should humbly accept the negative reviews and make adjustments. There is nothing bad about this B&B, but the owner of the B&B is unfriendly and puts on a bad face. You must read the thick check-in manual before checking in. On the first day, due to various reasons, I did not receive the email from the operator as soon as possible, and I was treated with a bad look. I did not dare to ask any questions for several days. Fortunately, I met other Taiwanese tourists and I was able to ask and solve the problem. .Finally, please don’t reply with emotional words. In fact, it’s good to adjust your attitude. If you are in the service industry, you should smile more and the room charges should not be low. Otherwise, even if you claim that many people have given positive reviews, you will not be able to cover it up. shortcoming.renew:As expected, the author's explanation was longer than mine. Thank you very much for your attention. I will not respond to you again, because the original intention of my comment is just to share my experience, and I do not want to slander your B&B. I am just talking about the merits. I have also given good comments on the advantages. It is not a one-sided negative comment. It is just in the eyes of the industry. It seems that I only see negative reviews (spread hands). In addition, the conversation I am talking to you is in Chinese, not Taiwanese. If it were Taiwanese, you probably wouldn’t even be able to recognize it with the translation software (laughs). In fact, you don’t need to continue to respond to my comments. I have no emotions towards you, nor do I want to slander you. I am just sharing my experience. There are many Taiwanese people traveling to South Korea, and they also hope to be able to plan their own travels. Chinese people, please share more experiences, that's all. Remember to smile more and wish your business a prosperous future.

Very nice Guest House. Clean, inexpensive and very well located! It's a shame, however, that there is no furniture on the roof terrace...

Great price and location. Friendly staff and no frills stay at close proximity to Myeondong and the train station. Surprisingly, just within minutes of walk out of the guest house, you will find at least four halal eateries offering korean cusines and one of them seems to be owned by a Malaysian and thus, offers some Malaysian dishes as well. A specialty gift shop selling halal foodstuff too. There are two vegan food outlets too. Two 7-11 Convenience shops, Isaac toast, jokbal, a specialty shop that seems to sell Jeju souvenirs and food plus cheese pancakes and various bubble teas which came in large sizes!! The only inconvenience point is that this guest is located uphill (imagine going up a steep slope, I kid you not) and you might just miss a turn when you return from your shopping spree! Else, it has what a clean, excellent guesthouse would offer i.e. nice, large pantry where you can have an aromatic 3-in-1 coffee with Lee brand of cream crackers and you got to maintain your room cleanliness, there isn't much room service.

We spent 4 nights (26-30 May) in YOLO with a family of 4. The location was easy to find (exit 3 with escalators) and you would be in the comic street. It has 7-11 down the road so it was really convenient for us. The room was not big but the layout was very efficient. The small room compensated by having a big dining lounge and reception. They provided free water dispenser, coffee and tea with fully equipped modern kitchen. I love the sink (huge and deep enough). It had a paid laundry and dryer service (KRW 3000 each cycle). It was cheap and convenient for guests. Kudos to the owner.I did read about a negative review from a guest but let me share my view on that. The young gentleman was stern and polite. He was just strict to the rules because I believed they had met so many ‘uncivilised or over-pampered’ guests whom felt that they were entitled to everything eg late check out, early check in. If that was the case, please book any five star hotels and opt for early check in option (stop embarrassing your home country or being Karen or worst Adeline if you know what I mean).Rules are rules. Read before you book and don’t be an ignorant prat and embarrassing yourself. My young daughter was quite playful and owner always offered her candies and she loved it. On the day after we checked out, I forgot that we were not allowed to use the facilities besides leaving our luggages for later collection. The gentleman just reminded us and we did finish our breakfast and clean up before we left. The roof top offered a great view of Namsan. This was my fourth or fifth trip to Seoul and YOLO would not disappoint you if you prefer something modern, minimalistic and common leaving.(Rare collections of LEGO sets!)
