Great budget accomodation in Miyanoura! The staff/worker downstairs in the shop is super friendly, helped me break down my larger bills into smaller ones multiple times, and enthusiastically greeted me every time I saw him.The room was quite spacious and clean, and very affordable. Although, you'd want to bring ear plugs or noise cancelling headphones, as the soundproofing is quite poor/walls are quite thin. The pay-to-use shoe drying device in the laundry room was extremely useful for drying my wet shoes. I also liked that you aren't restricted to 1 towel for your entire stay like some other hostels.

close the entire "hotel" at 6pm, don't allow check-in after 6pm.. |this is unheard of for an hotel. either you allow check-in until 8pm at least or don't call yourself an hotel.|we were almost left without a place that night.|they didn't agree to refund either..|(notified us via email one same day of check-in, didn't call even).

The operation is not at all adapted to the ferry schedules and activities on the island. The ferry arrives at 11am but it is not possible to check-in. Activities on the island are big hikes or a tour of the island by car. These two activities take up the day and leave room for unforeseen events. After 6 p.m. no check-in is possible. We announced a 15 minute delay due to unforeseen car problems. No tolerance on the part of the establishment which declared a no-show when collecting the money. we slept in our car because no other accommodation was available. Terrible management.

We found this accommodation when it was really difficult to find accommodation during Golden Week. It was very clean and quiet, close to the bus stop, and there were restaurants and supermarkets nearby, as well as the Miyanoura River(?), so it was really nice to take a walk. Highly recommended. However, if your suitcase is heavy, it may be difficult to stay on the second floor. Be careful of stairs. The owner is also very friendly.

Unfortunately due to circumstances out of our control, we had to cancel our reservation at Minshuku Iwakawa. I was able to easily communicate with them throughout our booking and cancellation progress and they were very helpful and accommodating.Hope to be able to visit Yakushima another time and would definitely stay with them!!!Thank you again!!

As expected, it's terrible. I was just a little late and canceled immediately. I couldn't even go inside. What's more, I was unable to write a review on the site where I had booked my reservation because I was charged only and canceled. It was certainly my fault for being late, but the way they handled it was terrible. In the end, we stayed at a nearby inn run by a kind elderly couple. Even if I have the opportunity to come to Yakushima again, I will not use it again. Of course, the rating is 1 star.

I stayed here on the last day of my trip to Yakushima (Jomon Cedar, Shiratani Unsuikyo). We stayed in Awa on the first and second day, and then on the third day. This is an inn where you can stay without meals and take your shoes off at the entrance, and each floor has about 4 rooms with a shared shower, toilet, sink, and refrigerator. (The shower and toilet are clean.)It's cheap and convenient as it's close to a bus stop, but it's not the image of a business hotel in the city.Yukata and toothbrushes are not provided, so please prepare them in advance. Also, there don't seem to be any convenience stores in Yakushima.
