I don’t even know where to start: this is the worst hostel I’ve ever stayed at.I’ve been traveling all around Asia for 6 months now, so I don’t say this lightly. For context, I stayed here for 3 nights and paid 5000¥ per night (~30€). I tried to leave on the 1st night but the owner said he would not have refunded me for the rest of the stay if I did.To start, I booked online. However, the pictures looked nothing like the truth. This hostel is a single room with 12 bunk beds with limited to no space to put your backpack/luggage.There’s only 1 toilet and 1 shower for 12+ people (some of these bunk beds are double beds, so even more people sharing the same spaces). The toilet and shower has always been dirty and smelly during my stay, despite the request to the staff to clean it.The shower is an open space where the door doesn’t exist: there’s instead a small curtain that obviously doesn’t close completely and it is held closed by literally a piece of thread. The floor was filthy and full of hair. Same for the bedsheets, which also had holes in them. For such a high price, this is a legit scam. The owner saying that the reason for all of this is because of the increase in prices in Tokyo is bullsh-. There’s much better hostels, hotels, and apartments in the same area for cheaper. So do yourself a favor and book somewhere else.

The accommodations here were far superior to any hostel or guesthouse in the area. I never thought I could find a place like this at such a price in this neighborhood, but I did! There are many international guests, so no matter where you're from, you'll feel right at home. And then there's the owner, Mr. Rikiya, who is also a martial arts coach! He is incredibly friendly, and I was thrilled to have my first ninja experience in the basement gym. His kickboxing instruction is top-notch, and he and all the trainers adjust the training based on individual conditions with great care.If you're staying in Kabukicho, this is the place to be!
