It's a very relaxing atmosphere. It's true that the building is old, but it's well kept and clean. However, the tank that can be seen from the women's open-air bath? It's not pleasant to see mold, so I want you to clean it up as soon as possible.

The main thing is that you arrive and you can't have dinner because the chef is not there. They also don't advise you on how to have breakfast (here at the hotel you can't), they don't help you at all. For my very bad experience, I do not recommend it.

We came as 4 people, 3 and 1 separately, they charged the 3 of us double for the same room, double what it cost for 1. They didn't let us have dinner even when we arrived early and without having places to eat, we ended up eating at a 7eleven. In the morning, because we were foreigners, we couldn't have breakfast either. Bad location to come. There is nothing.

Getting to Gora in general and this hotel in particular demand some effort! After a couple interesting train rides, we arrived in Gora. From there it’s an uphill slog to the hotel so don’t do it! …

I used it for 2 nights and 3 days.Although beautiful, the building is old.The lighting is dim, the hallways are narrow, the rooms are mostly occupied by beds, and there are few furnishings, so it feels more like an elegant business hotel than an inn.I was concerned about the smell of petroleum near the elevator, but judging from the reviews and other comments, it seems like it was a sandalwood scent.(Although it was different from the sandalwood that I know...)There is only one counter, and customers who arrive at the same time will have to wait in line to check in, so those who come early will avoid having to wait.Reservations for the bedrock bath and private bath are accepted on a first-come, first-served basis. The open-air bath attached to the guest room had a nice view and was a good size for two people to relax in.The indoor bath is not a hot spring, so I was happy that there were bath salt amenities, but there were none on the second day, and it seemed like they had been forgotten...The public bath is small, but since there are few guests, it is sometimes reserved for private use, so you can enjoy the hot springs freely.I had reserved a bedrock bath, but the towels from the person who had used it before were all messed up. When I asked the front desk, they told me that they had prepared it, but someone else had entered by mistake.I'm on time, so I think if someone else came in after I got ready, I'd be able to meet them...Even if that were the case, I thought it would have been better if they had just said sorry since they had to wait for the entire time while they made inquiries and cleaned up.The food was delicious both in the morning and in the evening.Even if we stayed for several nights, the menu at night varied, which was nice.Perhaps because of the atmosphere inside the hotel, I hardly noticed other guests during meals or other times, and I even saw a few solo guests.I think this hotel is definitely suitable for use as a hideaway...If you are imagining a luxurious atmosphere and customer service, I think you will be disappointed.I think this inn is suitable for people who want to relieve their fatigue with a quiet hot spring and a nice meal without being disturbed.

Usually don’t write reviews but want to make sure other travelers know what to expect when booking this ryokan. The room was as expected but the open air bath was not clean and didn’t feel worth it to use it, which is a shame because that’s a big reason we were excited for the hotel. The onsen in the hotel was small and a little disappointing compared to facilities I’ve seen in cheaper hotels in Kyoto and Tokyo. The hotel advertises having a lounge but when we asked where it was, we learned that the lounge was the non-desk part of the lobby. There is a smell of sulfur in the air when outdoors. I’m surprised to see so many positive reviews of this ryokan which motivated me to share the experience so they know to improve the customer experience. Beyond the hotel experience Hakone is very small, not that walkable, and has shops that close fairly early. Unfortunately would not recommend this hotel (at least for this price) and would recommend either staying at a more inclusive ryokan or not coming to Hakone.

I visited for my wife's birthday.I have stayed at other Relo Hotels series and this one also had a good concept. The building is a little old, but it is clean and comfortable. The receptionist is a little more informal so you might like it or not lolThe welcome drink included wine and several snacks, so I was able to relax. And we had a quiet time as no children were allowed. The open-air bath in the room was comfortable and not cold, probably because it was summer. It's great to go in the morning while looking at the scenery.Other people's reviews said that people could see it, but we didn't have to worry about that because it came with roll curtains. Both breakfast and dinner are satisfying with sufficient quantity and taste.Since it's Gora, there are a lot of hills, so if you can come by car, you won't have any problems.I would like to stay there again if I have the chance.

It was a normal room, but the suite was cancelled, so I was given a much higher grade room. It was so big that I couldn't use it all.You can choose a yukata and walk around the facility wearing it.The meal was served in courses, and I was watching carefully to see when the meal was finished, so it was served in a timely manner. I was very satisfied with the seasoning and appearance. The room has a unit bath and an open-air bath, and you can reserve a bedrock bath for a fee.Since the inn accommodates a small number of guests, we were able to enjoy the large communal bath without crowding. This is a recommended inn for a relaxing stay.
