I had a three day stay at Setsugetsuka in October 2024 and honestly I have no complaints. The beds were extremely comfortable, the fact that the Ryokan is so close to Gora station is a blessing, and the private onsen was incredibly relaxing.I do have many tattoos, so unfortunately I was unable to try the public onsen, however I had no issue getting into the private onsen at least once a day. I found the best times to go would be when others are having dinner (5pm), late in the evening (9-10pm), or in the morning once everyone has taken the cablecar to go around the Hakone loop (10am-ish). There is a small waiting area at the bottom of the path to the private onsens, and only once did I have to sit and wait (maximum 10 minutes) for one to be free.I cannot comment on the food, as I explored the local area to find my meals.Overall I would absolutely recommend staying at Setsugetsuka.

I was worried after reading the reviews about the accommodation I took with me, but the 3 star rating was reasonable.Japanese staff lacks hospitality.Even though it was a 4-star hotel, I got the impression that they were running it as part-time workers.Dinner was overall poor except for the shabu-shabu meat.The tempura was cold and not tasty, and the sushi was like conveyor belt sushi.The breakfast was plentiful and good.The public bath was nice, but about 4 Chinese people came in with smartphones and were making video calls, so I wish they had stayed longer, but they left right away. Impossible.My companion said that a Chinese man entered the bathtub without washing his body in the men's public bath🤮It's a moral issue, but I think you should be careful at all times, such as when checking in and when the staff patrols.I didn't really care about the dirty room that was mentioned in other reviews, whether it has been improved or not!The open-air bath in the room felt very nice when I took a bath in the morning when the weather was nice.

Convenient for sightseeing as it is right in front of the station.Since I wasn't driving, I heard the sound of the water in the group and decided to go here.I stayed here for the first time in about 10 years, and 80% of the guests were foreigners.There are all-you-can-eat sweets, and children are very satisfied.I've seen some reviews about the facility being outdated, but it didn't really bother me.However, the pillow is low and it is difficult to sleep. Most of the accommodations are low and soft, and this was the case here as well.Even though it was a weekday, the place was almost full.The public bath didn't feel crowded, but the private bath was completely empty (lol).There was a lot of food. It was delicious, but there was a lot of food for my toddler, and when I ate what was left by my toddler, I was too full.There was a service to decorate the room with fresh flowers, which made me feel warm. Other than that, there were fresh flowers everywhere, which made me happy.

If you're going by train, it's good because it's close to the station, and if you're going by car, there's plenty of parking.Since it's close to the station, there are a lot of young people and foreigners, so I think Kyoritsu is better for people who want a quiet and relaxing place.There are no free drinks such as plastic bottles, beer, and chuhai.

Pros:- literally right in front of Gora station, so super convenient to go to most tourist places in Hakone (ie can get the hakozan railway train from Hakone-Yumoto, and can also get the cable car to get to the ropeway station in Sounzan)- my room (double room with open-air bath) was more spacious than I expected and was very comfortable. I enjoyed the relaxing hot bath in the evening. Other people’s comments saying that the rooms look a bit outdated is true, however I do not think it is a negative point at all. It only added to the rustic charm of a seemingly rural Japanese small town. Although the furniture is old, in my opinion it is very well kept and maintained so it works well and I felt comfortable throughout my stay.- private onsens for male and female available. they also places some probiotic drinks and ice lollies for you to enjoy after the hot bath.- so many free snacks at different time of the day.- yukata and japanese pyjamas for you to wear around the hotel to really immerse in the experience- bus stop right in front of the hotel takes you straight to Gotemba Premium Outlets in like 40 mins, which I highly recommend if you have time as there were so many shops and so many good deals, comparable to the outlets in western countries.Cons:- No cons. This hotel is the highlight of my holiday in Japan and I wished I had stayed for another night.

From the moment I arrived at the entrance, I was greeted in a friendly manner and the procedures at the front desk were normal and modern. Please pick up the necessary amenities yourself in front of the front desk. The room is a twin room with an open-air bath that is comfortable to spend time in. But unfortunately the bath in the room was not a hot spring. My husband has bad legs so he couldn't go to the big bath, so we ended up giving up on the hot spring. Since I was staying without meals, I went out to eat, and there was only an okonomiyaki restaurant within easy reach of my wheelchair, but it was very delicious.

Avoid the moon building, especially rooms located on the 3rd floor. The smell of mold is awful. After just 1 night there, we had to laundry wash everything in our suitcase. We also had roaches on our terrace, so we kept the doors closed to avoid letting them in. The hot tub in the room is filled with regular water heated up by a gas heater located in the terrace. You can use public baths to experience the actual spring water.

“Japanese-style” accommodation for foreigners visiting JapanThere was also a Japanese couple, but if you're going to stay here, you should go somewhere else. Accommodations that should be avoided as they can cause trouble.・About centralized management of coolersWhen I woke up in the morning, the air conditioner had been switched to central control and was blowing air instead of air conditioning. When I checked before going to bed, the air conditioner was not centrally controlled, but rather air-conditioned. I thought it was because I had a hard time sleeping at night because my body was hot after taking a hot spring bath, but it seems that was not the case. When I went out into the hallway, I found that the air conditioner was on, and the hallway was cooler than the room. What is the intention behind the centralized management? It was difficult to spend time in the room after waking up, and I continued to sweat until I checked out. Is the accommodation highly environmentally conscious? When I went to the public bath, I found that the changing room was freezing cold due to the air conditioner.I will add this as I have received a response from the facility.→ Regarding the air conditioning in the guest rooms, it is strictly for our company's convenience, but it is centrally managed for each group of 8 rooms. There is a main room among the 8 rooms, but it is possible for customers using the main room to switch the operation, and it is assumed that the operation was changed on that day. It's not a good value. For ¥100,000 for 1 night, what you get is only worth half that. The place wasn't clean and is outdated. The food that increased the price by ¥20,000 to the ¥100k was average. This hotel requires a copy of your passport if that's something you don't want (other hotels in the area do not). If you're only going there for the Onsen, then it MIGHT be worth it. Otherwise, it's not. Wouldn't recommend this hotel for non-Japanese residents.The picture is a chair in the dining area.

Great access right next to Gora Station! The approach from the thatched gate is also atmospheric and will get you excited. As expected, 4 stars! That's what I thought, but the contents were quite normal.The room was renovated in a modern Japanese style, and I didn't feel like it wasn't kept well-cleaned like other people have written. It was just beautiful. However, the bedding, especially the pillow, was so stiff that I couldn't stabilize my head. I couldn't sleep at all! I want to say this out loud!In the room, there is a portable basket for going to the bathroom, as well as towels, brushes, socks, and plastic bags for wet towels. This is thoughtful.Shoes worn inside the facility are zori sandals. However, the thong is loose and makes it difficult to walk. If possible, I would have liked to be able to choose slippers.The lobby has sweets, a coffee corner, toothbrushes, hairbrushes, yukatas, etc., all of which are self-service. I also felt that the reduction in personnel costs was extremely rare.There are two types of meals: a Japanese course and a shabu-shabu course. I chose Japanese food, but many of the dishes were cooked at the table, and I realized that there was a lack of staff here as well. As for the main taste, the beef was delicious, but the fish was no good. Especially the tempura and breakfast horse mackerel. To be frank, it was tasteless. Since it's in the mountains, you don't have to worry about fish. I regret that I should have gone for the shabu-shabu course.You might think it's something like this because it was a low early bird rate on weekdays, but I would have been angry if it was the highest price during the peak season. Three stars at most.Most accommodation facilities these days are designed for inbound tourists. Maybe it can't be helped because of the trends of the times.

I've been to Kyoritsu Resort quite a bit, but I won't be coming back here again.The quality of the rice is not very good and it doesn't taste good. Above all, it feels amazing to eat it quickly. The shower in the room has too little pressure to use, and the hair dryer in the bath is too small.It's a shame

Stayed with a friend.On the day of the check-in, it took a considerable amount of time, and even though the person in charge was free, he ignored me even when I called out to him, and although he finally responded after about 10 minutes, I was disappointed that he was so slow. did.As others have written, it turned out to be a very unpleasant trip with spider webs and hair left in the room.The path leading to the public bath is dark and slippery if you are not careful on rainy days.

We stayed in a Japanese-style room for three. I really liked the hotel’s hot springs, especially the outdoor area with an appealing natural design of stone and wood. Besides the public springs, there are also several private outdoor springs that don’t require a reservation, which is quite different from most other hot spring hotels and offers convenience. That natural feel matches my expectations for Japanese onsen hotels

Most of the staff we encountered were nice and helpful, but we had an unexpectedly disappointing experience with the front desk, which really ruined our excitement about staying in this place.While waiting to check in, I noticed that several guests who arrived after us were being assisted before us. It became clear that we were standing in the wrong place, even though there were no signs indicating where the queue should start. Understanding this, we moved to the correct spot and resumed our wait.When it was finally our turn, I suggested to the staff that it might be helpful to have signs indicating where the line should begin, to prevent confusion and unnecessary wait for guests. Unfortunately, despite having seen us wait for quite some time, the staff member responded by lecturing us about the importance of waiting in line according to Japanese culture, as if we were attempting to cut in line. I tried to clarify my point, but the communication was not going smoothly, so I asked to simply proceed with the check-in.I understand that the staff might have been tired, but his response was rude and entirely unacceptable. I also don't understand why he would assume us were trying to cut in line.
