My family and I just returned after spending 3 nights at Art Mon Zen hotel. We had 3 separate rooms reserved for our party of 6, and I was incredibly surprised that we were the only guests there for 2 of those nights.  …

I'm satisfied with this price and quality near central Kyoto. My own aesthetic sense is zero, but I like the fact that the inside is clean and has a lot of attention to detail. There are many hotels that are unnecessarily expensive, but I think the quality is more than worth the price. This is a hotel I would like to stay at again if I have the opportunity.

Amazing rooms and perfect location!5 min walk to Sanyo station that is very central to get to any Kyoto attractions. Very close to the river and amazing restaurants. Walking distance to Kyu Mizudera - one of the best shrines in Kyoto. Incredibly helpful concierge staff - they helped arrange trips and restaurants and many things for us. 5000 (!!) year old art in the rooms and huge spacious and very luxurious rooms - way surpassed my expectations of “nice and luxurious”. And I have never seen beds this huge and soft. We were able to sleep 2 adults and 2 little kids in one bed comfortably just for fun. I didn’t know beds this size existed. The have delicious western style breakfast and British afternoon tea on weekends. We really loved it!!

Luxury hotel in a great location. We has a duplex room - next time I would opt for a single floor room but that's personal taste. Charming and efficient staff.

Boutique hotel is ideally located on a small quiet street filled with antique, porcelain and art stores, and next to a larger than average convenience store, hotel is a 5 min walk to Sanjo Keihan-mae Station, a 10min walk to Hanamikoji Street and Yasaka shrine. We booked a corner double room that had floor to ceiling windows. The room was large with a counter, a cafe table, a sofa and had a Jacuzzi tub for two with a separate shower and counter area. The toilet was in its own room with sink. The attention to detail in the room, and throughout the hotel was astounding. It really felt like a 5 star property. The floors were carved wood. A art installation was in the room with antique pottery. The beds were very comfortable, with four pillows on each bed. The burled wood counter was beautiful. The room also had attractive ambient lighting. The parisian onmisens soaps, german Ronnefeldt and Japanese teas, bose ceiling mounted speakers and Xtal lamps were a nice touch. The room was absolutely quiet with no noise from the rest of the hotel, or the outside. The room had blackout curtains or sheer curtains that could be closed with a switch. The only issue with the room, is that there is not much of a view from the room, but the room got a lot of light, and the large windows made it feel very open and airy. The service in the hotel was exceptional, all the personnel were very warm and accommodating, and even knew our names. The staff even helped ship our luggage to the next hotel and arranged for an upscale limousine to the Kyoto station. The food in the hotel was incredible! The breakfast that was included in the room was served like a five course meal, including soup and salad and a dessert. The menu changed every day that we were there. We also had dinner in the hotel and it also way very impressive. If I ever go back to Kyoto, I would be more than happy to stay at this hotel again, and I recommend it!
