It is a lodging facility operated by a temple called Chishakuin, but it is a modern facility with a touch of Japanese style without being classical.Access to Kawaramachi is a bit inconvenient, but since I wanted accommodation near Cheongsu Temple anyway, the location was good, and the Kyoto National Museum of Art and Thirty-three Gandang are within a 5-minute walk. There is a program in the morning where you can observe a morning Buddhist performance while a member of the temple gives a tour (in Japanese), and even if it is not a tour, you can relax just by taking a walk around the building.

It's been 4 years since the renovation, and I'm impressed by how clean the rooms are. Stayed at the family temple for morning work and eko. The front desk is open from 7:30 to 11:00 pm at the inn. Don't be in a hurry with Higashiyama's quiet surroundings.

Avoid at ALL COSTS! Got insulted by staff from start to finish. Took longer than expected to pack, then got violently banged on the door and monstrously shouted at by the staff for being late. Just charge me money at this point, why should I be insulted and verbally abused? No pleases and thank yous throughout. I would’ve slept on the street instead rather than being treated like this. (Expect this to be deleted by the owner since this also happened to plenty of other people!)
