This is a wonderful inn with a relaxing and nostalgic atmosphere. It feels like I've come back to my grandma's house. The stairs to the second floor are steep, and since it's an old building, it makes a creaking noise when you walk. Not recommended for people who have difficulty going up and down stairs, those with large and heavy luggage, or those who are sensitive to noise.I think it's unusual that the room key is a padlock. It's nice to be able to use the microwave, toaster, and refrigerator. It's great to have a relaxing space on the first floor.

Absolutely beautiful, cozy Machiya in Kyoto, walking distance to a train line and with easy access to the bus system. Can't say enough good about this place. The staff were very welcoming, all spoke excellent English, and were happy to help with any requests or questions we had. The room was spacious and clean, and the tatami mats are very comfy to walk on. The futon mattresses were a bit hard, but you are sleeping on a thin mattress on the floor, so it's to be expected.Outside the rooms, the house has a couple common areas, including one cozy corner overlooking the interior garden all machiya seem to have. It's truly a beautiful place.A+, absolutely recommended, and that it's near some very good food (go check out Ahodouri) right next door, it's definitely an easy choice.

The staff were very friendly. I felt like they didn't care while I was there. However, it was very cold because it was an old house😅😅 Also, there was no soundproofing.😅😅

Wonderful experience in this old authentic « Machiya House ».So peaceful and warm with a lovely staff.Intimacy both in your room and in the common areas, such as the lovely small living room and the cute garden…Even better, you can enjoy and relax with a delicious roasted tea offered in the kitchen.

Very nice, well-located guesthouse with many restaurants and jazz bars within walking distance. The staff is very friendly and gives good tips about things to do in Kyoto and Osaka.

Every detail of the facility was taken care of and was very clean and comfortable. I thought this was an inn where you could experience what it would be like to live in Kyoto.
