We spent 5 nights there, excellent service, excellent staff, the rooms are well decorated with a generous balcony, we would have liked a little more natural light but the architecture of the building is like that.An extraordinary bar is available, at the moment very few customers use it, perhaps due to the recent opening it does not yet have its deserved notoriety. The property manager spoke to us regularly and appears to be an excellent leader. We also had a great babysitter, we had complete confidence in leaving our toddler in their caring hands. For our part, we will come back, and I recommend this establishment.

I went to Six Senses, which was opening in Japan for the first time, because I wanted to relieve stress from physical work.I booked a spa for private yoga, watts, and massage, and the hotel is in a place where you can walk to Kiyomizu-dera and Kodai-ji, and it's near Kyoto Station, so I took the train. The taxi driver didn't know it was a new hotel and went around in circles.80% of the customers were foreigners. The staff were the same. The room was nice and new, with the latest equipment. The electric blinds on the windows were great. It firmly blocks sound, light, wind, and outside air. I was able to sleep soundly. It was nice to be able to adjust the lighting in various ways. The restaurant called Setsuki in B2 was also quite good. The dinner course was one of a kind, beef cheek stew with balsamic glaze, and Japanese mackerel wrapped in bamboo leaves. There was a lot of variety for breakfast, and I ate until I was full. The set meal of fish is exquisite. There were lots of salads, juices, breads, and Japanese dishes, so it was fun.All of the spas were of a high standard, and the staff who performed the treatments were wonderful. Highly recommended. It was a hotel running SDGS. I was surprised at how well the toothbrush brushed my teeth.

Six Sense Kyoto is just incredible. The hotel is absolutely stunning, especially the onsen. My husband and I stayed in a junior suite overlooking the garden. It was perfect. We really enjoyed the activities offered - eg. how to do traditional Japenese wrapping with furoshiki. The breakfast was SO good we went every day (5x) of our stay. This was the first Six Senses we stayed at. We love the ethos of the brand. It's now a goal to visit as many Six Senses as possible :)

One of the best hotels I’ve stayed at. Everything was perfect, from the spa, to the restaurant, to the impeccable service. I asked about their banana bread, and their pastry chef delivered the recipe to my room. What a lovely gesture.

We are long time Kyoto residents, and this is only a review of the bar and restaurant. Although we haven’t been to The Aman, we have dined or stayed in most of Kyoto’s 5 star hotels. SSK may be the best of them all. Simply great service: everyone said “yes” to everything and made us feel special. The place is gorgeous full stop. The bar and dining courtyard are exquisite and the cocktails and food were not only delicious, but they accommodated our needs (plant-based) without batting eye (sadly that’s rare in Kyoto). We shall look forward to visiting again.

I was looking forward to trying this hotel as it was my first time at a six senses property. Having heard of there properties I was excited to see for myself what the hype was about and boy was it disappointing. Upon our arrival we were upsold to a “better room” for an extra $2,500 USD for 3 nights. We paid around $4,700 USD total for 3 nights but they recommended we upgrade to a better room for the extra price. We decided to try the upgraded room and while it was nice we felt mislead because we were told the room was originally $3,500 USD per night and thought we were getting a deal only to find we were paying about the same rate it is sold online for other dates. Also I tried to do a detox program for two days and other health programs but they were all booked! Apparently the locals take up the spots but hotel guests should be prioritized. So I never got to try any of there programs. Again disappointed. Why pay $7,151 USD for an experience that I can’t even enjoy….yes that’s how much this trip cost. I also called concierge to make a reservation for me at kichi kichi which is a famous omurice restaurant and they never got back to me and I never heard from them the next day. Disappointed. Although I will say the food was pretty good and healthy at this resort and I did like the sea bass and the deserts that they provide. It was not worth extending our stay. We booked another hotel down the street for the next couple of days we are in kyoto. Six senses was not worth the money.

We live in Kyoto so only went to try their breakfast. We’ve been to the other 5-star hotels in town and this is certainly the best hotel breakfast we’ve had. They have gluten-free breads and made my pancakes without wheat. Many choices and locally sourced ingredients. Service was excellent. The view of the garden is lovely.

Check-in in May 2024The ingredients for breakfast are good, the omelet is delicious, and the blueberries are very sweet. The hotel has its own small vegetable garden, and it is very pleasant to go for a walk after breakfast.Might stay again because of the breakfast 😋
