My purpose was a traditional ryokan without tourists. This place fits that condition—it's inaccessible without a car, and there are no locals or foreigners. However, non-Japanese services are impossible. It's deep in the mountains, so drive safely to encounter various wildlife on the way.The room was a tatami room, which was somewhat uncomfortable. If there is a bed option, I will choose it. However, since tatami rooms are a tradition, there is nothing we can do about it.Being deep in the mountains, one day might feel insufficient. Also, since there's nothing around or any buildings, I recommend bringing books, etc. Unfortunately, there were no suitable tables or chairs for laptop work, and the absence of coffee made it a bit challenging! 😄Bring food and water from outside; they provide breakfast and dinner but only offer simple udon for lunch if you require them. I asked if they were selling draft beer during meals, and they said they do. but it's disappointing as they charge an extra 300 yen for pouring canned beer or highball into a cup. The hotel has a sulfur hot spring in front; the water isn't very clean due to moss or foreign substances, but it's enjoyable. Communication may be limited, but the staff is kind.

We stayed here as a family of 5 with teenagers, to distress from hectic city life. This inn is rather remote, within the Daisetsuzan National Park, right beside the roaring Tomuraushi River. …

Loved this place! We arrived late after a multiple-day hike in the Daisetsuzan national park. The hotel was fully booked, so we stayed in the campsite (20 minutes walk from the hotel) and visited the onsen - definitely one of the best I have seen in Japan. Service was top-notch, they even let us use the shuttle service to get to the railway station. My warmest recommendations!

This was truly one of my best experiences in Japan so far. Not only was the hotel incredibly clean and did it have all the amenities one could wish for, its location is probably the best part. It’s quite literally in the middle of nowhere and it takes a few hours to get there, but it is so worth it!The onsen itself was incredibly as well, probably the best I’ve been to. I will definitely come back here some day to climb Mt Tomuraushi and I’ll definitely stay in this place again.

This is a very nice hot spring inn deep in the mountains. The hot springs are better than anything. There are two types of open-air baths with different temperatures, and the views are beautiful, so you can stay there for a long time. For rice, you can eat delicious seasonal foods such as venison and sashimi. Shintoku soba is delicious. The breakfast buffet is also delicious. The room has a system where you can make your own futon, but it is spacious and comfortable.

I used it for mountain climbing. I was imagining something more like a mountain hut, but the food was luxurious and the hot springs were spacious and beautiful. There are four hot spring baths, each with a different temperature, so you can enjoy the bath at the temperature you like. After descending the mountain, I just soaked in the warmest water and relieved my fatigue. It was truly heavenly.
