We had an amazing stay at Christmas rose! The owners are the kindest and help to get you everywhere you need. They also provided daily onsen tickets and a discount to a great rental shop. The lodge is right next to a ski lift as well.The breakfast was simple but filling and provided snacks for the day as well. The owners also noticed our preferences and adjusted the breakfast to that. There is always free tea and coffee available.The rooms had everything you need and the mattresses and feather blankets were really comfortable. The ceilings are high and the room itself is spacious as well.Overall I can only recommend this place!

The hosts were absolutely wonderful! Our travel agent had some issues updating the booking and we showed up a day earlier than the hosts expected but they were kind enough to make us up a room last minute.They also made a great recommendation for a ramen restaurant and even provided shuttle service all over town for their guests.Ski in / ski out access to the lift and a short walk/shuttle from the onsen.To be clear, this isn’t a luxury hotel by US standards. If you aren’t looking for adventurous hostel vibes, stay elsewhere. That in mind, for the price, considering the service and location I’d certainly stay here again and again!

Awesome owner couple who are ever so helpful. Ko San gives you a ride and picks you up to all places onsen, dinner, ski place etc. He also can help book restaurants that need reservations. They also give you ticket access to Onsen nearby so you dont have to pay for entry fee! Simple breakfast daily.Ski in and out at gondola 29! See pic

The owner graciously provides a free ride to the center of the city, ensuring that guests can easily explore the city's attractions.Upon our arrival, the wife owner warmly greeted us with her genuine hospitality and infectious smile. Despite the language barrier, she skillfully used her iPad to communicate with us, showcasing her tech-savviness and dedication to excellent customer service.The breakfast provided at Lodge Christmas Rose Zao was a delight. From freshly baked croissant to a variety of hearty snacks, we can bring in the mountain.The location of the hotel is ideal for those seeking outdoor winter activities. Being close to the sunrise slope, it offers easy access for snowboarding enthusiasts. After an exhilarating day on the slopes, we were always greeted by the wife owner, who welcomed us with her infectious smile, making us feel right at home.Overall, our experience at Lodge Christmas Rose Zao was memorable. The warm welcome, delicious breakfast, and convenient transportation to the city center made our stay truly enjoyable. If you're looking for a cozy and family-oriented hotel experience, away from the hustle and bustle of the city, this is the place to be. We would gladly return for another winter getaway.

Owners are truly incredible, and hospitable people. They will do everything they can to ensure you are comfortable and have a good time. It's on the hill next to the lifts so you can also ski/snowboard in and out. Was a great experience and would highly recommend!!

We had a great time here and would love to come back! Incredibly gracious hosts who were more than happy to give us advice regarding the area and made us feel very welcome. Can only recommend! Also the Onsen is beautiful (a short 5 minute drive from the hotel but the owner gave us a quick lift which we really appreciated). Thank you for the great time!

Comfortable and clean. Basic but sufficient. You can ski in and out at lift 29. No bathrooms but you get tickets for nearby onsen hotels and that is convenient. The host is a matured couple who are friendly and helpful. On snowy days you need a 4WD or a snow chain to reach there but the couple is happy to pick you up from the town down the hill.

This place feels like home, if I have to choose between a luxury hotel or this place, I would without a doubt stay here.Owners are very friendly and helping, they will pick you up from bus stand in car and ready to take you to restaurants and wherever you wanna go in the city, I am a vegetarian and couldn't find a place where I can have food but owner called lot of restaurants to find out if they can make something for me, if this is not hospitality than what is.I have nothing but good memories of this place and if I ever come to zao again I will stay here.Few more points, they have tickets for onsen in the city at a much cheaper price than actual place so you can use them, also they provide free access to onsen and will drop and pick you up.If you dont have towel for onsen, you cab buy here at a cheaper price compared tk shops and other place.
