Suzukiya Ryokan is a very lovely traditional inn. My brother and I wanted to visit the Zao Fox Village while we were in Japan but didn't want to spend all the time on the trains/shinkansen going up to Shiroishi in Miyagi Prefecture just for …

It's a brilliant to have a modern touch in the area which is very aging hot spring town in the middle of an isolated mountain. They offer light meal options as well.Coffee, refreshing drinks, ice cream and various local souvenirs are available.Good place to cool down after relaxing bath.

Hotel accommodations were lovely and the staff was extremely helpful and welcoming. They prepared us a full traditional Japanese dinner and breakfast in a private room and also provided transportation to the fox village we came to see. Great Ryokan experience.

Amazing dinner and breakfast, which are well worth the cost on their own. Onsens (one indoor, one outdoor, and the ladies and mens sides switch at 6pm each day so you can see both sides if you want to) were clean, well-maintained and nice looking, if a little smaller than expected. Room was clean and had plenty of space. Futon was comfortable, even for someone like me who isn't used to sleeping on the floor.

The staff were very friendly and went out of their way for us! The onsen baths were nice and clean and hot! The breakfast was interesting with lots of traditional options (served in your room). They also offer transport to Shiroishi at a very small fee.

This place was worth every penny. It was bright, clean, and friendly, with an old wood feel but modern amenities and approaches. The staff was so personable and friendly, even helping us with local buses and sights to see.We were amazed at the variety and deliciousness of every meal, and the baths were amazing. This place is also tatoo friendly, for those who may be worried about Japanese public bathing with tatoos.

Remote location but if you have plans for the Zao fox village then thus a MUST stay. The hotel was quiet and clean, the room was very large and they had 2 baths available, indoor and rooftop. I highly recommend taking the dinner as it was quite delicious and there are no restaurants near the hotel. They offer a shuttle service to Zao fox village making it all the more appealing. Definitely want to stay here again.
