Good location. Friendly staff. The room I was staying was supposed to be designed by a Ferrari industrial designer. But the renovation and style sadly did not say so

A one-night stay at the 300-year-old Zao Onsen♨️ Takamiya Ryokan Miyamaso for 2 adults, including breakfast and dinner, with 24-hour unlimited access to the hot springs. From the moment we arrived at the parking lot, we experienced 101% service. Because there was a long stone staircase leading to the inn, the hotel staff helped us carry our luggage up. I tried to carry my own luggage, but the staff wouldn't allow me to, which made me feel a bit embarrassed. At the entrance, four smiling staff members warmly welcomed us. After a simple check-in procedure, the receptionist thoughtfully asked if we had any food allergies; I informed her that my husband is a vegetarian. Then, an older staff member guided us on a tour of the hotel facilities and took us to our room for a brief introduction. We booked a Japanese-style room, which was very spacious, estimated to be about 450 to 500 square feet. The bathroom and toilet were in separate small rooms, and the room also included a scenic view room, a side room, and a main bedroom. The dinner was very generous, featuring 11 courses, while breakfast was delicately portioned. They put a lot of effort into the vegetarian dishes, and the dining service was attentive and thoughtful. I highly recommend this inn.

This sulfur hot spring is really worth trying, and the overall service is very good. The only problem is that the rooms are indeed a bit old and the equipment overall is too old.

At first, I thought that the navigation only took 7 to 8 minutes to walk and there was no need to make a special reservation for the bus. However, the driver estimated the arrival time and waited for us directly at the Zao Onsen bus stop with a sign. We are very grateful to the driver and the strong and handsome guy for their help. He was alone. Carrying 15kg of luggage to the roomWhen we walked in from the parking lot, we realized that there were stairs all the way. It was really difficult for him, but he was still very energetic and led us to the door. The Japanese employee who was responsible for the English introduction also made us understand that along the way, it was no wonder that the children could not entertain the guests. It seemed that they were either disturbing the guests or playing hide and seek until they were injured. The Kaiseki dinner is also highly recommended and very filling, especially the Zao beef which was a complete win. Even we who don’t like rice ate a whole bowl (the Japanese gentleman next door ordered white rice at the beginning and ate three bowls). The chef also introduced the menu in English very seriously. Fortunately, there was a Taiwanese girl behind to help explain, which made our meal smoother. However, the small disadvantage is that because the hot spring does not add water, it is still very hot to soak in the evening when it is 16 degrees Celsius. Even an old Japanese man cannot soak for more than 3 minutes, which is a pity.

It is a hot spring hotel with a very Japanese historical flavor. The architecture makes people feel the authentic Japanese style. All the service staff are very polite and smiling. I happened to meet Monica, a Taiwanese girl who works part-time, and she was very serious in helping us ask what we wanted to know. She has all kinds of wine knowledge and also helps recommend the best way to eat kaiseki cuisine. Thank you so much!

Visited on 2024年3月11-12日. Located in Zaō Onsen, this ryokan has been established for over 350 years. The services were excellent and the personnel carrying. Diversity in bath is good. Some were quite old. The seseragi no yo furo (the baths allowing to hear the lapping of the river) are very relaxing. Breakfast and dinner are good with mostly local products. Be aware that the ski resort facilities are from another age. The snow quality was good at this time (but no more with view on the famous Zaō snow monsters...).

First of all, please go ahead and do it.Great customer service.Thank you for accepting us on the day even though it was before the check-in time. However, it is an old-fashioned building and the only way to get around is by stairs, so people with mobility issues may need assistance. Some reviews of the hot spring said it was hot, but that's to be expected. This is what a real hot spring is❗️
