we had a great stay here- the staff is very accomodating and well organized. they shipped the luggage from tokyo straight in our room before checkin without us needing to carry it to the accomodation or to our room even- super easy check in/check out- beautiful common lounge with books and useful sharable things like shoe drier- two types of pillows: hard and soft to accomodate to every prefference- some notes: since the machia has thin walls it would be great for earplugs to be provided(we had no issue with noise though), the bathroom door should be changed to a sliding one since the space is small, the light in the room entry is a bit dim making it hard to see your clothes on the shelves

Absolutely great stay. A slight walk into town but worth it if it's not midsummer! Clean rooms - slept super well!

I had the most wonderful stay here. The place is super clean and nice, and most importantly, the staff is amazing. I got stranded in Kyoto due to the typhoon, and Yumi made sure I had a room for another night. When I was checking out, she gave me a gift and her personal umbrella since it was raining cats and dogs. I truly appreciate her kindness—thank you, Yumi, for everything!

The Machiya has a very nice design in general, it was clean and we had an easy access. The rooms are very small and there is no space for storage. The location is well seated and it takes about 20 min by foot to get around in general.

The room was beautiful and had both bed and tatami-mats. It was easy to get to bus and shuttle stations and lots of convinience-stores close by. The staff was very serviceminded and helpful, especially when we had an inconvinience in the room. The man who helped us check in was very good at english and helped us get a taxi to our house. Strongly recommend!

Highly recommended ~ Staying in a family room, the room is super comfortable. It has a tatami and a double room, a living room, a kitchen and a washing machine ~ It's just a little far from the subway, 8-10 minutes walk. Everything else is great. I will go there next time Go and stay, like 👍

The room is beautiful, well equipped, and clean. A great place to stay if you want to enjoy a more traditional location to sleep. Just be warned that the accommodation is more a BnB than a hotel as it does not provide for a constant staff on site(you have only access to a phone to reach them. The location of place while central to Kyoto and relatively well connected to metro and bus remain a bit far away from the main tourist attractions

Room was beautiful, but the bed was soo hard. I think this may be a cultural preference, compared to the UK. But it really hurt our backs.Bathroom and bath were amazing.Staff were lovely and location was nice and quiet.

The room itself was beautiful and the staff were very helpful. Our room had both a Japanese and western style bed but both were very hard, the washer dryer in the room would not dry our clothes so we were left carrying wet clothes with us until out next hotel.
