This hotel is exceptional. We loved it so much that we’ve stayed here twice, and both times were amazing! In addition to having super comfortable accommodations, they also have an excellent gym and pool. And the restaurants are incredible. I had the best espresso martini of my life at the hotel bar and ate the best steak of my life at Koyo restaurant. Service is 10/10, accommodation 10/10, and food 10/10. When we return to Kyoto, we will definitely stay here again.Congratulations and thank you to the team that made it happen, this stay shaped our trip for the better 🙏🏻.

The Dusit Thani Hotel in Kyoto is a visually stunning property, with an unbelievable exterior and interior design that sets it apart from many others. The location is decent, though perhaps not as central as one might like. However, the hotel’s beautiful design, exquisite furniture, and top-notch facilities more than make up for it.The rooms are spacious and meticulously designed, with great attention to detail and thoughtful accessories throughout. Truly, there’s nothing to fault in terms of the room experience—every aspect feels luxurious and well-considered.The concierge service is excellent, and the staff at the reception counters are among the best I’ve encountered. They are attentive, professional, and always eager to assist, making check-in and every interaction seamless and pleasant. However, the food and beverage side of things leaves much to be desired. There are significant challenges here that seem unworthy of a five-star establishment. The restaurants and bar close early, and ‘last orders’ come much sooner than expected 22h30 at the bar, 21h at the restaurant. At breakfast, dishes on the buffet are not refilled in a timely manner, and the lunch and evening menus are not only limited but also lacking in flavor. To make matters worse, the same menu is served across the bar, lobby, and main restaurant, offering little variety. Even the cocktails at the bar take an unreasonable 30 minutes to prepare!I feel the F&B Manager should take a more active role and show greater attentiveness to guests’ expectations, particularly in a hotel of this caliber. With so much emphasis on the luxury experience, the lackluster performance in this area is disappointing. That being said, I’d still recommend the hotel for its incredible ambiance, stunning design, great reception/concierge service and spacious rooms. But I would caution guests about managing their expectations when it comes to food and beverages.

Our stay at Dusit Thani was exceptional. The building itself is a work of art and simply walking through the space is awe inspiring. Little details like the bamboo room cards and the perfume used at the front door make for a unique and subtly memorable experience. The rooms are similarly designed with great thought placed in making the space comfortable. The service was excellent and the amenities first class. The only caveat to the stay was that the breakfast was steeply overpriced for what was offered and they do not offer a load based laundry service (charging instead by item). I have not allowed that to hamper their score though as both are addons not included in the price of the stay.As for location, the hotel is a comfortable 12 minute walk from the station and directly on one of the main bus routes. It is central enough to enable day trips to the cities many temples as well as nearby cities such as Osaka and Nara.

Perfection and Dedication in every detail. In the heart of Kyoto lies a designer hotel that embodies the essence of perfection in every detail. From the moment you step inside, you are greeted by an atmosphere of meticulous craftsmanship and thoughtful design. The rooms are a harmonious blend of modern elegance and traditional Japanese aesthetics, where every element—from the carefully chosen furniture to the soft, ambient lighting—exudes a sense of refined sophistication. The breakfast patio garden is a serene oasis, where the meticulous attention to detail extends to every corner. Each plant is carefully placed to create a tranquil environment, and the arrangement of the space reflects a deep respect for nature and harmony. The breakfast itself is a culinary delight, with dishes that are as beautifully presented as they are delicious.Whether you are in the lobby, the rooms, or the garden, everywhere you look, you see thoughtful perfection. This hotel is not just a place to stay, but an experience of Kyoto’s dedication to artistry and excellence.

I recently stayed at Dusit Thani Kyoto, and it was an unforgettable experience from start to finish. The hotel’s combination of luxurious comfort and exceptional service made my visit truly special. One of the highlights was the complimentary access to the spa and pool facilities. The spa offered a serene and rejuvenating retreat, The tranquil atmosphere and top-notch amenities made it a perfect escape from the bustling city. The pool area was equally impressive. It was beautifully designed, clean, and well-maintained, offering a refreshing and peaceful oasis. The attention to detail in both the spa and pool areas reflects the hotel’s commitment to providing a superior guest experience. Coupled with the elegant accommodations and exceptional service, Dusit Thani Kyoto truly exceeded my expectations.I wholeheartedly recommend Dusit Thani Kyoto to anyone seeking a luxurious stay in Kyoto with fantastic wellness amenities. I’m already looking forward to my next visit!

Superb place with superb service and amenities. Kyoto is intense place and you do need a place to relax between those "exhausting" (but super satisfying) trips to its temples, shrines and more. …

Mixed feelings. The room is spacious and comfortable. The staff service is excellent, although some staff members had limited English proficiency and required assistance from colleagues. This was generally acceptable. However, the hotel's directional signage is challenging to read and comprehend. The dark brown wooden walls and small, similarly colored directories make it difficult to discern the information. The signage appears to be user-unfriendly.The breakfast service could be improved as the majority (70%) of the breakfast items require an order, with only 30% consisting of cold salads, breads, snacks, and fruits. This can lead to extended wait times for guests who are looking for a quick breakfast before their excursions, potentially taking up to 1.5 hours due to the need to place an order, wait for the food to be cooked, and then served. While the intention to provide freshly-made food is commendable, it may be more efficient to have the majority of hot food items available on a buffet, as is commonly seen in many establishments worldwide. Additionally, there were instances where guests had to wait in a queue for tables during busy mornings, further exacerbating the issue of delayed food service. It is suggested that a review of the breakfast service be conducted to explore alternative approaches that can provide a more streamlined and efficient experience for guests, while still maintaining the desired quality of freshly-prepared food. The restaurant staff appeared to be either part-time or inadequately trained, and they were unable to provide basic information about the ingredients in the food.Dusit Thani is a Thai-based brand with a strong reputation for hospitality. However, my recent experience at one of their hotels in Thailand was better than here, particularly with regard to the breakfast service.Despite this negative aspect, my overall experience at the hotel was generally positive. The hotel is less than a year old, and while there are some areas that could be improved, it is still a good option for travelers.

This is a 5 star hotel with exceptional service. The hotel is a 10 minute walk from Kyoto Station, 10-12 min taxi or ~30 min train to Gion. The hotel has many accommodations as you’d expect for a hotel of this caliber. I did not use them, so I cannot comment on them. There are restaurants in the hotel you can eat at, or can go to local places <5 min walk away, all which look like they have menus that can accommodate tourists. The staff were extremely helpful at suggesting things to go, helping book outings and calling taxis. The rooms were immaculate. With my credit card, I was given a free upgrade with a beautiful garden view. The room has all the amenities you’d except and it was very spacious.

Stayed here for about 3 nights. New facility, very modern and up to date, but designed to feel like a temple in a way. Excellent staff and location. Pool and dining were top notch.  …

The room and service of staff are great. Few points to comment.1) Breakfast could have been improved by not just keep ordering food. Items on the buffets are not main food. You have to order your main dishes. It doesn't go smooth when the breakfast is packed while everybody is having at the same time. It's not pleasant while you have to wait for your food and watching others waiting for dining table. We couldn't rush until our food comes. The portion size is too big when you wanted to enjoy many items at the same time. If it was on a buffet, we could just take the food in a portion we want to enjoy to avoid throwing away such an amount of food.2) Room cleaning is good. I am not saying that our room was not made properly. The thing is their cleaners. I felt that my room and the corridor in front of the room were not clean although it was cleaned. Please forgive me to be straight forward. Housekeeping staffs' body odour was way too much to handle. They were stinky. How could I believe my room was properly cleaned while those people who were cleaning my room were not even clean. They smell like they haven't taken shower. I am so sorry to say this. I thought I was in India, not Japan. After I left and came back to my room, their body odour smell is still stuck in my room.Other than that, everything was great.
