Decent value for money. Rooms are not very big but if you're traveling you don't use them much anyway. Bathrooms were adequate. It was a bit noisy at times since the walls are not very thick and some other guests are loud so bring earplugs. My room smelled a little even after opening the window all day. The beds are traditional futons and are fairly comfortable. The staff is friendly and speak English very well. The bar is nice, they have a switch that you can play with, and the cocktails are delicious.

Not the greatest spot -- but it does deliver precisely what was promised / described. The staff were very friendly and accommodating, and the common area was cozy, if not a bit small. The rooms were provided with what we found to be rather uncomfortable bedding. Understanding that it's traditional style, we weren't expecting giant plush beds, but the sleeping pads / futon pads given were just too thin. That said, the rooms were private, reasonably quiet, and came with basic features.Bathroom facilities were very unclean.

Rooms are separated by paper. You can easily here people snoring or talking in other rooms.Bathrooms were clean but hard to use. The showers had little privacy.Great location and people were very friendly and nice. Traditional home which gave a cool atmosphere.

It's a nice and clean place. The rooms are quite spacious. The staff was also very helpful and friendly. Only downside would be that it takes around 15 minutes from Kyoto station but other than that, a great place to stay and definitely when you're on a budget.

Everything was really good, the location is amazing just in the middle point of everything, you can get by walking to almost every place, or walk to kyoto station and take a train. Also there is a small river just a block away with a ton of cherry trees . The rooms were really good, but even if everything was ok it is a little rough around the edge's. The bathrooms are too small (to be a shared asset) and the towels were a little bit old/small. In the other had the staff is really helpful and made us feel really comfortable in our stay that was quite long. So thank you very much! 💕🌸

It is a traditional japanese style bed and I was scared it would not be comfortable.. But we literally slept like babies! Plus the staff was super friendly and the hostel itself is nice and clean! We really enjoyed our time there!

This review is for the price of 120$ CAD that it cost me to pre reserve a private room PER NIGHT for 4 nights at this guest house. Checking back later I saw that the price per night was 30$ which would be way more reasonable for this place. On arrival check in was fine. We arrived at 1500 on the dot and had to wait to for costumers who were already waiting to check in, even though there was no one checking out and the front reception was not busy or occupied serving other customers. When arriving to our room it smelt of pickled vegetables and my first observation that there was mold on the ac unit. The paint on the walls was peeling and the slippers provided were one pair of crocs and another pair of very old dirty slippers. Second, the bed is not made as per the photograph and you are required to make your own bed. Which is fine, but on the state of the other amenities made us wary of the cleanliness of the sheets and bedding provided. The female washroom on the second floor were old and one of the toilet seats were broken and crooked. The bathroom for men on the first floor had a strong foul odor and was very humid. Overall I would give this guest house one star for the price I paid. My husband and I ended up moving down the street to Hotel One which cost us the SAME PRICE and had hotel amenities. Because of the cancelation policy, our stay at this guest house, that totaled 1h before we moved, cost me over 330$. Ive never been so un-satisfied with a reservation.

Tomori guest house is a pretty good option for a hostel. I enjoyed my time staying here in Kyoto. The futons were comfortable and the lighting in the main hallway had traditional dim lit Japanese lanterns. There is a main area communal area where you can order a drink or play video games.
