I used it at the Kyoto Music Expo, and it's a nice inn. There are places to eat nearby, and the breakfast is delicious.I'll stay again.

Really special place to stay. One of the best in the world. A retired couple who opened an inn of two rooms in the upstairs of their home. We stayed with our two year old daughter and loved everything. They were so lovely to us and to her. Always laughing and willing to help. Their breakfast was exceptional and different every day. Location, though not in the midst of what a lot of tourists want to see, was perfect for us. Quiet and relaxed area with plenty of genuine restaurants and cafes and bakeries around. Owner insisted on driving us to the train station after check out. Extraordinary!

It was a strangely calming space that was a mixture of antiquity and comfort in a good way. My son was so naughty that he got into a lot of trouble, but he made breakfast as much as possible to suit my child's tastes, and I was surprised that my child got used to being ``grandpa and grandma'' in just a few hours. (Once my son calms down a little more...😅) It's a place I'd like to come back to.

I would say this is the best stay for my Japan trip! Perfect hospitality provided, spacious room and clean, comfortable mattress and blanket, washroom and toilet are clean too! The Authentic Japanese breakfast is so tasty! laundry service is also provided! The owner Mr. Morio even provides the service to send us to kyoto station when we checked out! I will definitely go back stay again when I visit Kyoto! Thanks Mdm. Yoshiko for the great breakfast! Me and my son love it so much!If you want to experience for an authentic Japanese ryokan, this is the best place for you, as the house is over 100 years old, and the couple of owner, Mr. Mario and Mdm. Yoshiko is a very kind and friendly person.

A little haven of peace in the middle of the small streets of Kyoto. Mr. Morio and his wife were very welcoming. Everything was clean. Shower and bathtub available. The futons were comfortable. Breakfast was delicious.

The owners are very friendly and attentive. On the last day they took us to the train station. It is a traditional Japanese house. We sleep on tatami.

First of all, I wanted to stay in a traditional Japanese ryokan. There was a downside to having to walk from the station, but the moment I saw the ryokan, I knew I had made the right choice. The Kyoto itinerary only included Cheongsu Temple, so I was planning to walk, but I was grateful that Mr. Morio gave me a ride. The Japanese-style heating was a little cold, but I was able to sleep warmly thanks to the thick blanket. The breakfast was truly speechless and was enough to leave a strong impression on my first trip to Japan. The structure of the house was unique as it was a traditional house, and the owners had a good impression. He was able to speak English, but we were sorry that we couldn't understand it well;;; I want to stay here on my next trip to Japan ^^

2024.2.10-11It is run by a very nice couple. This inn has a history of almost 100 years! Apparently, the year 1920 is written on the large beam on the second floor. It was my first time traveling to Kyoto, but the two of us taught us a lot of tourist attractions in Kyoto!Breakfast was very delicious ☺️I want to see you both again!

Coming back to Japan after 10 years, I felt a little sad that the Japanese old school perfectionist hospitality was no longer found. Everyone seems jaded, tired and agitated with the constant stream of foreign tourists, and ranges from barely tolerating us to downright turning us down. That was until my stay at Gallery Nozawa. Morio and Yoshiko were the epitome of that Japanese infallible hospitality. They cleaned the room in the morning, but came back up to refill the tea in the afternoon to make sure it was piping hot when we got back from excursions. My 2 year old daughter loved the matcha wafer biscuits so she finished both of them right away. They noticed, and the next day put in 5 and a robot face biscuit just for her. My daughter stayed for free and yet Yoshiko prepared a special breakfast for her everyday (both of them doted on my daughter to the point she called her grandpa and grandma). And Yoshiko's breakfast is also perfectionist just like everything else: everything was timed so that they reached you at the temperature they should be eaten at. The delicate and subtle balance of flavours and nuances in her breakfast is reflective of their service and Japanese sensibility. It goes beyond the clean and folded laundry or the pick up and drop off that Morio graciously offered us everyday. It is looking into what their guests need and feel, and constantly strive for beyond, yet remaining as quiet and invisible as possible. If you appreciate that kind of subtle sensibility that I haven't seen in anywhere else but Japan, I highly recommend Gallery Nozawa for the experience. If you just want a quick stay at a good location with new facilities, I think this is not the place for you.
