It was great to be able to experience a ryokan at a very affordable price. But the building itself has a peculiar smell.

Located close to the train station and right next to one of the temples in Kyoto. The room was large, well-equipped, we were given green tea and yukatanas to change into. The decor is modest, but consistent with the traditional decor of the Riokans. You could buy small souvenirs in the hotel. There was an onsen available too, as there were no other guests at the time we used it, we felt like we had it to ourselves. We could leave our luggage in the hotel in the morning and go sightseeing - when we returned, the luggage was already in our room. The disadvantages: the air conditioning was directed straight at the futons, our sleeping places. There was a specific smell in the bathroom. Sleeping on a futon is an experience that may not be for everyone.

Anyway, the food is delicious! ! A little far from Kyoto Station, but within walking distance. I think it's a good location because Nishi Honganji is right in front of it. There is also a large public bath. I was able to enjoy the quality of the inn.

This is an old & dated Japanese style ryokan. We booked it as our children were curious to sleep on the futon. The floor was hard and we couldn’t sleep well during our stay. The best part of this hotel is the traditional Japanese breakfast, beautifully presented, treat for the eyes to appreciate the one who prepared it & a delight for the palettes to admire it. Another factor is the Ofuro (hot water bath) that was opened till midnight. How about the room ? Well, there could have been at least some storage cupboard. Our things were lying on the floor.
