Reviewed when this location was TENT HOSTEL KYOTO -We picked this hostel for the tents, but will return for the hosts! My group and I had such a great time staying here, the facilities are clean and novel and it was such a lovely experience staying in the tent themed beds. Both the tent and dorm beds were comfortable, clean and spacious. The family who run the hostel are so friendly and welcoming and we had a great time chatting with them and they were very helpful during our brief stay in Kyoto! It is an easy walk from the station and very close to a convenience store if you need any supplies, food, or drink (although I would recommend the food and drink at the hostel). We enjoyed the home cooked Japanese breakfast and baked goods we could buy at the hostel for a good price and the overall experience was one of the highlights of our trip to. My only regret is that we didn't stay here longer! I will definitely be staying here next time I go to Kyoto.

Firstly, I’d just like to state that the host was super nice and welcomed me into his home. So any negative points aren’t a reflection of his character, but I must be honest in my review about the negatives.I stayed in Room D, which is directly next to the cafe. The accommodation is attached to a Kids cafe, similar to a daycare, with kids screaming, running around, throwing things, and banging on walls. It was difficult to relax in the room with children constantly making noise, sweeping up stones, and even smacking my door. The kids also played musical instruments, which, while great for their socialisation, was not ideal for guests looking for some peace and quiet. The children were present from around 11 am to 5-6 pm, so any attempt to stay in the room during the day was met with considerable disturbance. Additionally, the toilet and shower rooms were situated outside without locks, making it easy for kids to pull them open. This setup was uncomfortable, especially when walking half-naked from the shower while kids were running around. The floor plan on Airbnb mentioned a kitchen, but it was more like a storage room and not usable for guests. Initially, it wasn’t clear where to access a kettle, microwave, or fridge. I found the kettle and microwave in the cafe, and the fridge was located upstairs, which was inconvenient for retrieving items multiple times a day or night. On the positive side, the room was clean, and the bed was comfortable. However, I was bitten multiple times by something, which were red blotchy bites that were itchy for days after I left. They were definitely not mosquito bites. The location of the property was okay, close to the train station, but quite far from the main attractions in Kyoto.I probably wouldn’t stay here again, but I would recommend it to someone wanting to stay for 1-2 nights who won’t be in the room during the day.
