If we could, we would've give the place 10 out of 5 stars!!!We planned to experience authentic Japanese hospitality and we received that and so much more! The owners are the most amazing people who made us feel at home (they'd say "welcome home" every time we came back from exploring Kyoto). The house is the most beautiful place we ever stayed at, and even though there were other guests staying, we felt we were the only ones with the friendliness and helpfulness of the owners. Every time we left the room, when we came back it was tidied up and fresh green tea was waiting for us on the table.Yes, there are rules the owners ask you to observe, but so every single hotel in the world has them (and these were made very clear before we booked and on arrival). It's a shame we only stayed 2 nights, as we could've stayed there for weeks. It was tranquil and beautiful. We were having Japanese style breakfast with a view of a stunning Japanese style garden and a pond with Koi fish. The room (apartment) we stayed in was spacious, comfortable, clean and really quiet. The ryokan is a short walk from Kyoto station, Schichijo station and in about 20 minutes you can walk to Gion. There are plenty of buses few minutes walk from Kikokuso as well.Thank you for making our stay such an amazing experience and for making us feel at home. We will definitely stay again, if we visit Japan in the future.

It was close to Kyoto Station and Kyoto Tower, and there were many restaurants nearby. Above all, it was an accommodation where you could feel the ryokan culture of mainland Japan, so we plan to visit in July and re-book in November.Above all, I really liked the kindness and warmth of the owner's family, and the breakfast was also great because I was able to eat authentic Japanese home-cooked food. I was very happy to have spent a good time at a yukata and traditional ryokan. It is a place with a tradition and a pond that is 120 years old and is run by three generations.curfewThe hotel closes from 11 PM to 7 AM, so you must do your business and stay at the hotel before then.Breakfast - must be eaten separately in the breakfast room on the 1st floor. Private roomThere is a family bath so you can enjoy a private hot spring bath with your family. Is it old because it has been in operation for 3 generations? I thought about it, but it was really clean and tidy, probably due to internal remodeling. It was easy to understand because they kindly informed me when I checked in, and I felt really good because they greeted me warmly every time I went out or when I went down. I was so grateful that they greeted me until I couldn't see them on the street when I checked out. It was a touching accommodation. ㅜㅜ

Very nice couple who are very courteous and offer great service to their customers. The hotel has been passed down for 3 generations! The place is a traditional ryokan style that is obviously older, but this sets a peaceful and classical mood to the place. It's simple, and our stay (for 2 people) had everything we needed, complete with 2 futon beds. My friend and I were introduced to the different amenities of our stay and they brought us tea and cookies. They have a very beautiful garden complete with beautiful carps. Overall, the highlight of the stay was their service as they genuinely cared about our wellbeing and were pleasing to talk to.

The couple who hosted us at the ryokan were very warm and accommodating. They told us that the building has been owned by the same family for 3 generations and you can tell that they take pride in that. I stayed only one night with a friend but would definitely come back and stay for a longer period of time. The hosts treated us very well and spoke English well which made it easy for us not knowing much Japanese. The room felt very classical and I got great sleep on the futon. The bridge inside with the view of the pond with carp was spectacular. I would recommend to anyone visiting Kyoto.

This couple of owners are exceptionally kind and concerned about their neighbors. Each experience is unique with them because you choose your bath time and your breakfast time. This is the 5th generation to manage this ryokan. And they do it in the best way possible. It's not a hotel, it's a meeting with a couple of innkeepers who will be keen to know how you feel at their place and if you're missing something. This type of encounter marks a journey. We stayed there 4 nights in a row. The location is perfect for traveling around Kyoto while being close to the station for arrivals/departures.
