Mayuko and her family are warm, open and friendly hosts. We really appreciated the opportunity to converse with them (with some help from google translate!) and it made the stay special. The music and dance demonstration was wonderful. I can't think of a better local base.

Our stay at the guesthouse was a memorable experience. From the moment we arrived, Mayuko, the host, made us feel at home and showed us around in her nice house. Our futons were already laid out in a spacious, traditional room. Later that day, at night, she took us by car to the centre of Hachinohe and introduced us to the owners of a food stall with some exquisite food. The next morning we were treated to an extensive and delicious Japanese breakfast with local delicacies. We had rented a car and Mayuko provided us with a perfect itinerary for a day trip, from the remarkable Seagull-temple, to a beautiful hike along the coastline, to the most impressive indoor foodmarket we have seen in Japan. That night Mayuko cooked us a very tasty dinner, before it was time for the highlight of our visit: a performance of traditional Japanese music and dance, performed by the host accompanied by het sister and niece. Mayuko and het sister are top level performers in the field of traditional Japanese singing and dancing. Also very interesting was the explanation of the meaning of the dance and the way their performance art is passed on through the generations. So, if you are looking for a genuine and authentic Japanese experience, visit the guesthouse!

Absolutely great guesthouse, which I recommend to anyone! The energy is phenomenal, from the very start I felt welcomed and even at home, which is always fantastic and especially important when travelling solo. Being here you get treated to an authentic experience, I got a little tutorial in shamisen and traditional Japanese dance from the master herself :)).If you buy food you will get treated with Extremely delicious food, and plenty enough to feel absolutely stuffed. The house is also accompanied by the cutest dog I have ever seen, so cute I'm debating whether or not to steal her along for my travels 🥹Thank you very much for making my stay truly great Mayuko. If I ever come back to aomori I will come back here!

Incredible hospitality - a very authentic cultural experience where you will feel like part of the family. Mayuko booked a live Shamisan performance for us during our stay which was incredible. We loved the residential location and they were able to pick us up at the train station since we didn’t have a car and offered to take us to dinner and the grocery store. The futons were more comfortable than some of the beds we slept on during our stay. It was really a relaxing location. Mayuko was out of town when we stayed but Saseki took great care of us.

This is a unique guesthouse. You can touch Japanese traditional performing arts as an option. Even if the applicant is alone, he/she can take the option. We enjoyed the traditional performing arts of Nanbu Teodori, Shamisen, and Minyo by the owner and her sister. The room was clean and comfortable. We had a very enjoyable time. Thank you very much.

Spent 2 nights in Mayuko's Guesthouse, one of the best and relaxing 3 days I spent in the last many years.Mayuko was kind enough to show me around the scenic sights of this beautiful countryside and also on the last day joined her show of the traditional Nanbu dance and singing.I would highly recommend you to visit Mayuko and enjoy her hospitality and “at home” environment.I now call this place my second hometown and look forward to visiting again in the near future.

This is the best guesthouse I’ve ever visited!! The owner, Mayuko is really friendly and easy to talk to. The best thing about Mayuko is that she is a professional Japanese dancer as well as Shamisen player! You can have great authentic Japanese experiences here, Mayuko’s guesthouse:) You can’t go wrong with it!!
