Following last year, I went to Shimofuro Onsen again this year. The lower baths you visit in spring are the best, with a pleasant sea breeze. This time I stayed at Maruhon Ryokan because they have a signboard cat.A quaint, historic building in a prime location overlooking the Tsugaru Strait. When I opened the door to check in, I was like, ``Huh? Is it locked??''Honestly, I panicked (sweat)Was it a temporary closure, or did I make a mistake in the date of my stay? .. .. Check your schedule and reservation email history multiple times. When I turned my attention to the glass door at the entrance, I noticed a cute signboard cat sitting there.Their fur is beautiful and you can tell that they are loved by the people staying at the inn. After calling out to them several times, the landlady came rushing in from the back and unlocked the door. (Relief)When I asked him later, he said, ``Decchi (the signboard cat) opens the door and goes out, so it's usually locked.''Isn't this a clever cat who can open the door by himself? The room we were shown to was a wonderful room with a panoramic view of the Tsugaru Strait. As is common with all inns in this area, there is no air conditioning.Although it was May, there was a stove. I never thought I would end up using it because the difference in temperature between day and night was more than I expected. . .During my stay, I saw the back of Decchi many times at the entrance watching outside (trying to escape?).This kid is so friendly and friendly. She doesn't mind when I touch her body, she even comes close to me, and she has a great service spirit, and her work as a fake is already full marks. In the end, the cat even came into my room on the second floor and was so curious that I spent two days and one night enjoying seeing it, touching it, and being soothed by it.And speaking of the lower bath, it is the famous bath. The small Masugata bathtub at the bottom of the stairs is still alive and well at Maruhon Ryokan. The pale white cloudy water with a sulfur smell will make you feel as if you are standing in the snow.It may be time for us to enter the snowy season. Most of the baths can be reserved for private use, so although it was a small bathtub, I had no complaints.Dinner was served in the room and breakfast was served in the dining hall on the first floor. When you think of Aomori, you can't miss the scallop menu, which is perfect. (grilled with butter)All the seafood was delicious, including the boiled fish and abalone. For breakfast, we had squid sashimi, but the amount they can serve is decreasing due to poor fishing. In fact, it seems that the famous squid race in Shimoburo has been canceled due to this. (disappointing)It's a small and homely inn, but the hostess's hospitality was warm and the cat's fake hospitality was heartwarming. If you're a cat lover, this alone is worth the stay.If you want to stay at a homely inn, if you like white muddy hot springs, or if you want to stay in an inn with a signature cat. . . This is a ryokan that I would recommend to anyone.
