This is my second visit. It's quieter than downtown Yufuin and I really like it. After living in a crowded place, I spent a night in a quiet place... I'm satisfied with the evening kaiseki and breakfast in the morning.Quietly in a private hot spring...and the water was very clean.

The casual hospitality was the best.We stayed for one night in late May. I learned about Yunhira Onsen in the movie Otoko wa Tsurai yo, Hana wo Arashi mo Torajiro (released in 1982) and wanted to go there. It seems that it used to be crowded with hot spring visitors, but due to the floods in 2020 and 2022, the shops and inns facing the stone-paved slope moved away from Yunohira, and now it is quiet and deserted.This is a long introduction, but to sum it up in one word, it was a wonderful stay. The room was simple and Japanese-style, but it was a perfect balance of keeping the good old feel while incorporating new things. Even if a large LCD TV was placed in a typical Japanese-style room, it didn't feel out of place and seemed to blend in with the room. It has fallen very low. Many of the paintings displayed in the hallways of the hotel depicted the atmosphere of Yunohira, but they didn't look out of place, which is typical of Japanese inns, and I admired each one of them. I heard that all the paintings, calligraphy, flowers arranged in bamboo vases, and calligraphy (made by the landlady) were selected by the landlady. The proprietress's good taste is evident.I can't find words to describe the quality, variety, and quantity of the food. Dinner was excellent with appetizers, meat dishes, fish dishes, etc., and breakfast was delicious, with dishes made with local ingredients such as meat and vegetables in pots that were neither too big nor too small. What was especially special was the dessert handmade by the landlady. Pudding for dinner and yogurt for breakfast. (Please refer to the attached menu.)There are four baths (two of which are open-air baths), and I bathed in all of them, and each bath had its own unique characteristics. The lighting in the bathroom and dressing room was with bare light bulbs, giving it a nice atmosphere. Also, at the entrance”There is a system that allows you to reserve the bath for your private use, as there is a tag that says ``while bathing'' and ``empty.''There are 7 rooms, and it seems that there are 2 separate buildings that can be rented out. Although the inn was small, the hospitality was attentive. The only people I met were the landlady (Rashiki-kata), the young landlady (Rashiki-kata), and the young master (Rashiki-kata), but they smiled and casually expressed their desire for you to enjoy your time at the inn. I felt the spirit of naso everywhere.Many of the guests were Chinese and Korean, but they strictly followed the rules and etiquette and didn't have any unpleasant experiences. According to the young owner, previous guests have posted videos on social media, and many people from overseas have come to see the videos.One last thing I would like to add is that there is a DeLonghi espresso machine in the lobby, and as coffee lovers we were very happy to have one after breakfast.It was a very memorable stay.

The hot water is really good.I'm from Gunma Prefecture, and the quality of the hot water here is really pleasant.I stopped at a distance,The rooms are good and the hot spring in the room is also good.The shared hot springs are only allowed for one group at a time, so you can really relax.All the food was delicious too.I will definitely come again!! ︎

I went there with my parents in their 60s in January 2024.My flight did not coincide with the shuttle bus, so I rented a car, but the entrance was on the wrong gravel road, so I stopped halfway and went to a ryokan to ask for help. Since it was a family business, they called their son and took the car out and went back down the gravel road and back to the main road. Please keep this in mind if you want to rent! I knew about it because it was on the website, but after driving on the left for a long distance, I couldn't remember it.I came while preparing dinner and as soon as I arrived, I left my luggage and went down to eat. Our seats were always next to the window and we loved it. Of course Mom and Dad liked it, food? What can I say… During my two-night stay, I ate breakfast and dinner so well that I didn't mind eating outside food while I was walking around... I want to go back quickly and have dinner~ Wow, I need to digest it quickly and have a delicious breakfast tomorrow~ all I could think was.From the food that was initially set up, to the subsequent food coming out, to the dessert… It was the best! It's so quiet because it's in a corner deep in the mountain... I thought that in a place like this, accessibility couldn't be good. If accessibility is good, anyone can come and the surrounding area will not be quiet.I think there were 5 baths in the hot spring, but since some rooms had individual baths, it wasn't crowded. Sometimes, there was a wait because everything was full, but it wasn't that difficult. There is a waiting area, and as I wait and enjoy the quiet, time passes quickly.What's unfortunate is that there was a natural disaster or something was being restored and all the shops were closed because the neighborhood isn't as famous as Yufuin. I highly recommend it to those who want to relax, and if you don't mind renting a car or moving slowly, you can even travel to Yufuin or Beppu. :)I want to go again in another season~

I stayed here on May 24, 2024.There were few guests, so we were able to spend a very relaxing time.The location is accessible by bus or car, and there is no convenience store. It takes some time, but it feels like a secret place, which is also good.I booked a detached room this time, and while the building is spacious and tasteful, the facilities are new and clean, making it comfortable to use.There was a semi-open-air bath in the annex that was open 24 hours a day, which was also great. There are also four private open-air baths available for guests to use on a first-come, first-served basis, and are available from 10:30 p.m. in the evening and 6:00 in the morning. These facilities are also very clean.The meals were pure Japanese style, and were extremely delicious, with dishes made with local ingredients and the proprietress' special desserts.Lastly, regarding the service, the response from the person who dealt with me was very nice, and I'm glad I came to this inn just for this reception alone. That's what I thought from the bottom of my heart. Thank you very much for your response. We will definitely use you again.

I recommend it if you are thinking about staying nearby. I have absolutely no regrets.The only downside is that it is somewhat inaccessible, but pick-up is available upon request.It was aesthetically beautiful both inside and out. The temperature and water quality of the hot springs were satisfactory, and the meal was also very delicious. The menu seems to change slightly depending on the season, but if I have another opportunity next time, I would like to visit again in another season.* For adult men, it is recommended to sign up for the course that includes a lot of meat for dinner. It's delicious.
