I was here in February 2020. Nice and affordable hostel in Hakuba. The ski lift to Mount Cortina is 100 meters away. There is a separate room for drying sports equipment. Large kitchen area. Friendly hostess. Many tourists are Australians. The bus in Hakuba runs on schedule several times a day. There is a bar and a pool table within walking distance. The downside is the cold in the toilets and bathrooms.

The staff are extremely friendly, helpful and welcoming. They make you feel like family and the atmosphere is very relaxed and warm. The location for skiing is excellent! You walk out the front door and are 50 steps to a lift. The value for money is also excellent for the access to 2 resorts and being able to cook your own food. The rooms are comfortable and there is a really nice onsen down the toad. One thing we would recommend is to bring a good supply of groceries with you so you don’t need to worry about travelling back into Happo (there is a bus and you can also arrange with the backpackers to get there though) There are also good food options on the mountains and at the Restaurant/ Bar connected to the backpackers. We loved our stay here and would definitely recommend it, we would love to come back! Thank you Ali, Macca, Takeshi, Kayoko and Tama.

Very bad stay experience. Most of the residents are Europeans and Americans, and they hold parties in the saloon every day until nine o'clock in the evening. There are often people running around in just their underwear. The room type we stayed in was a 6-person dormitory room. When I slept until 1 o'clock in the middle of the night, other tenants in the same room came back from outside after drinking, chatting loudly, watching videos on their mobile phones, etc. Asking them to be quiet was completely ineffective, and I could hardly sleep at night. When I woke up early in the morning, the same tenant started talking loudly, showing no sense of ethics at all. When I told the manager the next day, he only asked "Do you want to change rooms?" and had no intention of talking to the noisy guest.Although the manager is Japanese, he also likes lively parties. If you want to stay, you must be mentally prepared. The facilities and sanitation are okay, but the standards of the guests and management are really terrible.

When I stayed there, the only other people were from other countries. It's fun and has a global feel. The ski resort is also nearby, so you can have a lot of fun.
