Good location and helpful staff. Rooms and hotel were clean and tidy. Slept on tatami mats and shared the bathroom, but never had an issues. We booked the private Onsen for the 8-8:30 session after a day in the slopes and found it beneficial to recovery.Breakfast each day is bacon, eggs, mushrooms, sausages and toast, as well as cereal and porridge, all of which is great for a day exploring or skiiing.

I've had the pleasure of staying at Hotel Myosen multiple times and it never disappoints. The owner, Susan, is a gem and always goes out of her way to make guests feel welcome and comfortable. The rooms are consistently clean and cozy, offering a unique Japanese-style accommodation experience that might be different from what one is used to in western hotels, especially in ski areas. Keep in mind that shower, bathroom, and toilet facilities are generally shared. In addition to the great amenities, Hotel Myosen is also excellently located just off the Main Street. It's an easy walk to the Akakura Onsen ski area and busses, making it a convenient choice for those looking to hit the slopes without having to worry about transportation. Personally, I love staying in the Japanese Ryokan-style rooms with futons - they're surprisingly comfortable and perfect for winding down after a day on the slopes. Overall, Hotel Myosen is a great choice for those looking for a cozy and authentic Japanese hotel experience.

Perfect location. So easy to get to from Myoko station. Traditional Japanese styled rooms. Rooms were big enough and comfortable. Breakfast options perfect. Onsen and showers did the job each night. Laundry and dryers provided. Only 1 to 5 minutes walk to the shops and restaurants. I will be back here

Definitely recommended. Great location, staff and is great for the ski vacation short or long term. The snow may even fall so much overnight that it's hard to get out of the hotel ;)

I did not stay here and nor would I want to. The manageress was incredible rude and borderline offensive. My young daughter, in skiboots, desperately needed the toilet and being a long walk back to our much nicer hotel I asked the kind man outside if she could quickly use their toilet in the hotel. He said no problem, what a nice chap. The manageress on the other hand, who saw me waiting in the hallway, asked what I was doing. I explained and a disgusted look came across her face. She clearly was not hospitable and unsympathetic to my child's needs, which in Japan is exceedingly rare, especially when toilets are involved.I confirmed I would never give her the pleasure of gracing her establishment again and I will simply go to the toilet outside her front door next time.

Stayed with Susan and her team early in the season. We drove, so the parking was easy right in front (and they have more opposite the road).Love the onsen baths on the ground floor after a day on the slopes (bookable!), and the warm lobby area was nice and spacious to chill with a drink and chat with friends. They were able to help organise good rates with the rental gear nearby. The hallways can be a bit cold, but the room was pretty spacious and warm ( and warmed pre-arrival). Private bathroom was a little tight though. Good value for the location and area actually. Careful when walking up the slope to the other restaurants as it gets pretty slippery at night!

We had an excellent stay here! At first, we were off to a rough start because our rental car got stuck in the snow and I got injured. Susan helped us make phone calls to receive help, was accommodating of my injury when we got there, and make phone calls so we could get our stuff and a new rental car. The rooms were cozy and the Osen was amazing. This area has more snowfall and warmer temperatures than Hokkaido so skiing was more enjoyable. The ski resorts nearby were cheap and within walking distance. We even got a discount on the rental gear due to the hotel. They have a drying room downstairs where we put our gear to dry after use next to a heater so they were warm and dry for the next day. Nick and Susan were so funny and great conversationalists and we felt comfortable and happy there. Highly recommend!

+Stayed in the western room, the king bed was very comfortable. It was convenient to have our own ensuite bathroom and we enjoyed the Netflix..
