Very nice and upscale hotel. Sleeping arrangements are traditional Japanese with futons on the floor. Nevertheless the mattress is thick and the blanket heavy. I slept very well. Hotel has a coffee shop that serves very good tea. Baked goods are ok. I suggest the pear pie. Breakfast is half the cost of the buffet that the hotel offers. Be prepared to wait a bit for food.

Good welcome but hotel not at all up to par. Certainly the setting is outdated and dated but that in itself is not a problem the pretty woodwork is nice. The staff were helpful and helped us park in an annex car park. The room is archaic but comfortable bed. Bathroom at least 20 years out of date but hot water works well. Few outlets to plug in and connect the many electronic devices of our time. A noisy refrigerator (which we stopped). Huge water condensation on the windows. Breakfast OK but unoriginal. So expensive for this level. For one night ok. Location very close to the castle but that is the only interest. In need of urgent renovation while retaining the period charm: others have been able to do it, why not this hotel. What a shame with this staff full of good will. In conclusion: poor overall rating.

Boutique hotel with lots of wooden furniture, coffee & gist shop with a 5 minute walk of Matsumoto Castle. The staff were all very welcoming with a range of fair to good English. …

This was my first time staying here. The hotel is a nice old hotel. The atmosphere is really nice. The rooms are spacious and comfortable.I was a little bothered by the small number of outlets. This time I chose this hotel because of the large communal bath.I think there is also an issue with bath time.I was able to take a bath comfortably without being crowded.Matsumoto Castle is also just a short walk away, so it feels nice to take a walk in the morning. This is a hotel I would like to stay at again.thank you very much.
