We found this guesthouse, which is quite popular on online booking platforms. We booked a room with two bunk beds. The location is very strategic—close to Matsumoto Station and located on a shopping street, making it easy to find food (the owner also runs a restaurant next door). Check-in is at 4 PM, but if you arrive earlier, you can leave your luggage at the restaurant, and the staff will bring it to the guesthouse.The place is clean, with a shared kitchen, laundry, and common area. Despite having shared bathrooms, they are well-maintained, and I really liked the 'dry area’ inside it. The staff is friendly, I can see why it's so popular with tourists.

A bunch of hostels and restaurants run by beautiful couples.The youth hostel is very clean and comfortable. Unfortunately, the location where I live is a bit noisy because it is next to an engine.The food in the restaurant was also delicious. While waiting to check in, I tried the burger and matcha cheesecake, both of which were very good.The boss and staff are very warm and friendly.

I stayed there from the 23rd to the 25th.I saw it featured on TV a few years ago and bookmarked it because I wanted to stay there someday. Unfortunately, I didn't have much of a chance to talk to the owner, but it was a convenient location for getting around the city center, the rooms were clean, and the cafe downstairs was a nice place with live music every night. I could have enjoyed it more if I had stayed a little longer!I will use it again when I go to Matsumoto! Thank you!I stayed 23-25 August. I didn't have any time to talk to owner though, I was knowing this guest house by TV, few years ago. So I pinning for when I plans to visit to Matsumoto. I was happy to stay there. Really convenient place to visit Matsumoto-Castle and city center, also station.It was too short stay to have great experience here unfortunately, Because there has pretty cafe and they held live performance every night. That will be fun visit if you stay some nights.Thank you.

Such a lovely place! We stayed here 2 nights to go hiking to kamikochi. It's walking distance to the train and bus station and anything else you need like supermarkets. Rooms are really clean and comfy. Also the kitchen is well equiped. They even have coffee and a french press! Everything is really cozy and the people are lovely. There is a nice restaurant/cafè down the stairs. I can highly recommend this place for a stay in Matsumoto!

A beautifully made, relatively new guesthouse, very well thought out and lovingly furnished. 2 bedrooms with 8 beds, one of which is exclusively for women, and 2 4-bed rooms. We booked a family room with 2 bunk beds, which is comparatively spacious. Showers and toilets are shared. Everything is sparkling clean, very well maintained and made to last for a long time.The very beautiful and lovingly decorated living room invites you to linger. Kitchen for general useWashing machine including detergent for use for 500 yen, dryer included.Towels available to rent for 100 yen each.There is ONE parking space that you can rent for 500yen, right next to the house. Otherwise there are some parking spaces around for a fee.The Story House restaurant is located directly below and is owned by the same warm-hearted couple.Top location, very central, approx. 700m to the castle.Everything all around perfect.

A wonderful hostel that gives a pleasant, warm, comfortable vibe. The owner and staff are very helpful and kind, which makes the stay even more enjoyable. I would recommend this place to anyone who is traveling to Matsumoto!

This ain't 4.9 stars. Had to go lower bit.The room has no airflow no windows and you hear everybody fart at nighy, someone was sick and coughing, the next day literally everybody was sick including the men next room. The place became a virus breeding ground. Even jail cells has windows.The quiet culture is hard to live in, I had to walk like a ninja even in morning, need sound dampeners or open the window.Else the location is great.
