Great Ryokan close to Shimo Suwa station and right next to Suwa Taisha Shrine. Food was artistic and tasty. Each dinner lasted 90 minutes. Male & Female community onsen plus a private onsen for couples but reservations needed, First Ryokan experience and a great one. Glad we decided to do it here because this is a calm and quiet area. Polar opposite of what Tokyo is.

It is located right next to Suwa Taisha Shrine. The parking lot is narrow and difficult to find where to park. There was a reception desk right above. The young person guided us very carefully 😊. The inn is small, but it has a long history✨. The number of people staying is limited, so you rarely meet other guests. It's full of privacy😊. The food was well prepared and delicious. Is the bath small? That's what I thought, but I'm glad it was well taken care of✨. I thought the hot spring ♨️ was good after all 😌. I found an inn that I would definitely like to stay at again😊. (The front door is apparently locked so that no one can go out at night.) It was refreshing to see young people serving customers with confidence. 💮

I had a relaxing time in the elegant and quiet atmosphere. There were only a few rooms, so it was nice that I didn't have to share with many other people. The hot springs were also comfortable. …

I stayed here because I wanted to visit the shrine early in the morning when no one was around, as it was right next to Suwa Taisha Shimosha Akimiya. …

Kameya used to be a lodging facility for high-class samurai, with a ``upper room'' installed as part of the main hall. It is also said to have been the resting place for the bride processions of the Imperial Princess Kazunomiya, various feudal lords who were in charge of Sankin, and the palaces of the 5th to 14th Shoguns. It is amazing! After the Meiji era, literary giants such as Toson Shimazaki, Ryunosuke Akutagawa, Tetsukan and Akiko Yosano, Koji Uno, and Yaso Saijo reportedly stayed here. It seems that the ``upper room'' still exists.

The room was spacious and I was able to relax. The hot springs were also great. The young man in charge of the room provided detailed explanations and a bright smile, making me think this is an inn I would like to visit again.

It's been a long time since I last visited Shimo-Suwa, near Suwa Taisha Shrine and Akimiya. You can also go to Harumiya Shrine and Manji Stone Buddha in about 15 minutes on foot.I was very satisfied with the appearance of the inn and the food. It's fun to take a walk while remembering the old days of the Koshu Kaido and Nakasendo roads!
