I stayed in this ryokan for 1 day. The wind was cool and I liked it because it was located in the middle of the mountain and the scenery was nice in October. I rented a car and went there, and it was wide for parking. all of things in this ryokan were handmade so that you can feel the Japanese tradition, and it was nice that Korean staff was friendly and can speak English a little than other place. I think this ryokan is more cost-effective than other expensive places.

This is a small family run ryokan. I strongly disagree with some other reviews. The rooms are meticulously clean and spacious, with western beds. The meals are provided and are excellent kaiseki dining Another reviewer made stupid complaints about the meals but wanted walk-in smorgasbord service. Formal Japanese meals are elaborate and require careful timing. They are works of art. I enjoyed 4 wonderful meals during my stay. I also enjoyed the outside onsen experience. The hotel is a small distance from the train station but has a serene atmosphere. Please ignore other reviews by travelers who do not understand the culture.

The hotel is far away from Yufuin Station, so it is inconvenient to walk to return luggage. The room was kept very clean. However, they were not allowed to store their luggage after check-out (the attitude of the counter at the time was not very friendly).

It's a pretty nice hotel. I think it's good that it's a little far from the city.Although it is a tourist destination, time passes quietly.

I booked a Japanese-style package for 1 bed and 2 meals. It was the first time I booked this kind of meal in a hotel. It was very novel. The dinner steak was so tender. Although each portion was only a little bit, I still felt full after eating it all (there was also sashimi that I didn’t take a photo of). I highly recommend their food, it’s really, really delicious! !Breakfast is also a set of Japanese food. Unlike dinner, which is served one after another, it is served together. It is also delicious. It feels very healthy and is not burdensome to eat.The men's and women's soup is not big, but it is also very atmospheric. When I checked out, I was told that I broke a mug and asked the counter for the price, but I was told that I needed to pay for it, but the counter politely said no, which really made me feel very embarrassed!

Women could choose yukata, and the interior of the room was nice and antique. The room had separate toilet and bathroom, and the sink was spacious. The water quality of the hot spring water is like that of lotion, making my skin smooth.Since meals require advance reservations, we did not plan to eat this time, but there was a pub about a 15-minute walk away, and we were able to see fireflies in the stream along the way.

Worst ryokan experience in Japan. The service crew at the counter looks like we owe them 1 million dollars, especially the lady. We tried getting the amenities while our guide is doing the check in process, the lady stopped us rudely.Rigid system where a group (different rooms) must reach at the same time for the meal. My sister want to skip breakfast as a result, we told the counter, and the grouchy man simply said “no cashback” even we didn’t even ask for it.When we checked out, the lady told our guide “what if there’s forgotten items” multiple times, as if we will surely leave something behind and bring them trouble.Lastly there was hair in my fish during dinner. The chef apologised with a plate of Tori Ten and that’s all. Once I was at another ryokan and there was an insect in my veg, the staff from counter apologised till the next morning we checked out 😂However, I have to give praise to the service crew during the meals. They are kind and meticulous and doing their job right. I’m sure they have a hard time too with such grumpy managers/boss.There’s also no wifi in room, only in check in areaAvoid with all cost, there are better options in Yufuin. Just do your bookings earlier. The location is also really bad and away from the bustling streets. There’s also a lot of bugs.

We have been to Japan so many times and have been very impressed by Japanese hospitality. However, this was the first time we felt so unwelcome. The front desk lady did not have any emotions on her face and she gave the impression that she was unhappy to see us. She sounded really pissed (just short of slapping my hand) when I asked whether we can take the toothbrushes. The toothbrushes were complimentary amenities for their guests and she asked us not to touch it only after we are settled and about to leave the room then the other staff told us to just feel free take the toothbrushes. They were extremely rigid for the meal times. There were nine of us in the group. For breakfast they were only offering us two timeslot for the breakfast however being in the onsen town, I would want to take a bath before coming for breakfast. During check-in we were told that the group wont be allowed to enter the restaurant unless all 9 of us arrive. I was pretty upset that I cancelled my breakfast so that the rest of the entourage could enter next morning. But the next morning, they allowed them to enter minutes apart. I wish they would be more thoughtful and took some extra step to at least try to explain to me that I can be late a little bit late instead of canceling the breakfast when I told them that because I want to use the onsen. Instead of a flat NO in the beginning. Sometimes the tiny extra mile will bring a smile. Language is a barrier i understand but to me this is simply unwelcoming us.We like to come to Japan because the people take pride in what they do during dinner we also found a strand of hair in the food. This was extremely surprising. They did offer a plate of tempura as apology, but this was a little bit uncomfortable by the standard that we have been going through during all our trips in Japan however, I have praises for their service Staff who tried very hard to explain to us the mealThe onsen and the rooms in need of some changes. Lala understand the rustic feel of the onsen they would like to give to the guest, however it does not give a very safe and welcoming feeling I have been to other ryokans that also give rustic vibes, but this one gave an extremely rundown vibe. Rooms’ wooden flooring was very ‘sticky’ too. This is extremely unfortunate as I really enjoyed the onsen water but the whole environment just did not make me feel relaxed. The location although a little further in, it is very scenic. Such a pity that we did not have a good experience.

The worst onsen hotel we had ever stayed. The only good thing was the service at the restaurant. The managers at the front desk have attitude problems. Not much hospitality for visitors. The onsen is also the worst we had experienced so far. Only two small shared outdoor onsen pools, one for each gender. That’s it. Not much facilities. It’s far away from everywhere else. Nothing much to do here. Nothing much to view. The managers with attitude made the whole experience worse. Would not recommend this onsen hotel at all. Avoid this place at all cost.
