Structure managed by monks and other staff to host people and let them taste Japanese Buddhist culture. We stayed here on 20 September 2024.Our room was 20 m2 and was bare, it had a tatami and the essentials for sleeping on the futon and no other Western "luxuries". The bathroom is shared, as is the mini onsen for cleaning (separated for men and women). Everything very clean. After the vegan dinner (at 5.30pm) they showed us, for those who wanted, the Okunoin cemetery with a friendly Japanese guide from KCCN who spoke in English (although difficult to understand), for 1,600 Yen each: a very suggestive evening excursion, the advise! The evening ends at 9pm (the gates close) and the morning begins early, with the Buddhist ceremony at 6.30am (for those who want to participate) in the temple inside the structure, during which they make you burn incense and chant a sutra and a mantra. Afterwards the vegan Japanese breakfast (not sweet, except for a yoghurt) is served at 7.20.All very typical and evocative and I recommend it for those who know and want to live an extra-ordinary experience compared to our Western habits.Well, the price is the sore point, because although the experience would be worth trying, for those who come to Japan and Koyasan, in my opinion nothing justifies the approximately €420 spent for a couple, if not, perhaps, to maintain exclusivity of the experience and not open it to "just anyone".I feel like giving 3 stars solely because of the outrageously excessive price.

High price, but an experience absolutely worth trying: typical Japanese room, monks' dinner and meditation. Very nice.

A wonderful accommodation. The room is traditional Japanese, overlooking a beautiful Japanese courtyard. The breakfast and dinner were wonderful, it is vegetarian food but very varied and tasty. The service is impeccable, it has shared bathrooms but they are very clean, spotless. The onsen is very relaxing, full of details. They offer many activities such as meditation, calligraphy, etc., but we didn't have time to enjoy it. We will repeat for sure!

A temple residence. So sleep on excellent futons on the floor, eat delicious vegetarian food for dinner and breakfast and participate in the morning prayers. There is a serene tranquility at the temple. …

A simple but well-kept pilgrim accommodation with very tasty vegan dinner and breakfast. Monk Seik gave us a very humorous and helpful tour of part of Japan's largest cemetery in the evening and we took part in a Buddhist ceremony in the morning. If you want to experience Koyasan, you should definitely stay in such a temple accommodation. You even have WiFi and air conditioning.

I slept in the temple for 1 night and woke up with bites on my arms, neck, back, legs and feet, so bad that they did not let me rest the following nights of my trip through Japan. My brothers say they saw ticks on the tatami mats🤢
