I like Daniel Kimura, so I've been there many times. Life is a lifelong training, so even though I was born in Japan, there are many things I can learn from Daniel Kimura. I would like to go again.

It is a Buddhist temple, whoever comes knows that they will sleep on a futon and dinner will be vegetarian. When you arrive you take off your shoes. The rooms are acceptable: with air conditioning, kettle, television, a terrace with a table and two armchairs, private bathroom. The futon more comfortable than the sleeping bag. The garden is very beautiful, nearby is the cemetery where people walk and it is pleasant. The vegetation that surrounds you is lush.

Recently had an overnight stay and what a lovely tranquil environment Our room and ensuite were clean and comfortable with heating for the chilly night so we were cosy warm. The meals were great. The staff were very helpful. …

Spacious rooms with own heater if necessary. Some rooms have a balcony overlooking the garden. The vegetarian breakfast and dinner are excellent. The location is at the end of Koya, but everything is easily walkable. Participating in a fire ceremony is highly recommended. The Onsen is also fine, but indoors.

Based on my experience I would assign this 3.5 bubbles if that were an option, and expect that room assignment for this temple lodging is a good predictor of the rating it receives.  …

This cloister is close to the entrance of the famous cemetery. The monks are very pleasant, tea and a cracker and slippers for all.The stairs in the old building are steep, the futon hard as stone, the blanket serves as insulation. However they have individual toilets, running water, baths and wifi. The veggie dinner is quite good. A room is about 200€.

Not just somewhere to stay but a truly special experience. The temple is located right beside the Okunoin cemetery, a very atmospheric place for walks especially in the early morning or late afternoon. …
