An address not to be missed under any circumstances.A magnificent house, furnished with taste and refinement down to the smallest detail, which encourages rest and relaxation. Its owner, Miko, is welcoming, very friendly and available. She speaks perfect English and cooks divinely. We ate our best meals in Japan there, from breakfast to dinner including the lunch box.Too bad we only stayed there one night.Nathalie and Philippe

words will fail to describe the experience my wife and I had staying for 3 days at the Komorian with our host Miko-san. We are from California and avid hikers wanting to experience a spiritual journey, hiking through Kumano Kodo. We got that and much, much more. It was a totally immersive and authentic experience of Japanese culture, food and architecture. The Komorian is a super cute mountain cottage, built in traditional Japanese architecture, super neat and clean. The cottage is right by a gurgling river, ideal for early morning meditations. And Miko-san was our amazing host, chef, guide, shuttle driver and became our good friend too. The breakfast and dinner she served every day was traditional Japanese cuisine and tasted outstanding. And Miko-san shuttled us back and forth, to various starting and ending points of the Kumano Kodo trails. We strongly recommend spending 3-4 days in Komorian, hiking Kumano Kodo and enjoying Miko-san's warm hospitality. We will keep this delightful trip in our memories forever. Arigato !!

What a beautiful and comfortable home in the countryside. It is spacious and sits on a beautiful piece of land with a running river visible from the big picture window in the living room. Out host, Miko, lives in a little house next door and prepares and serves us a delicious breakfast and dinner everyday. She drives us where we need to go (my husband walked part of the Kumano Kodo) and will even take our luggage to our next destination while we explore the area. She is very knowledgeable and helpful in planning what buses and trains to take as we finish the rest of our trip. She loves what she does and it shows! We stayed for 3 nights but could easily have stayed for a week. It was very relaxing and we enjoyed her company. If I could give her a 10 star rating, I would.

Incredible guest house near the Kumano Koto. Beautifully designed, with tons of attention to detail. Everything from the bamboo soaker tub, to the heated rug, to the comfortable furniture- there are just these little touches of luxury everywhere you look. And the view!!! It's so peaceful being right on the river. The guest house is not on the trail, but that's okay because Miko will pick you up at the trailhead. She is a kind and lovely person. Overall, this has easily been the nicest place we stayed on our trip to Japan. A real hidden gem.

This accommodation was the highlight of the 4 week trip to Japan. I can't praise the accommodation enough: everything was perfect. Communication went smoothly. We were kindly picked up after the hike and taken to the bus station the next day. The accommodation is very clean, very quiet. The food cooked by Miko was so delicious! Thanks Miko, next time I will definitely stay longer.

We had a magical stay with Miko, who is an amazing host (and also speaks impeccable English). Miko’s house and the setting are beautiful and very private - we enjoyed walking nearby and dipping in the stream next the house. After three days of hiking Kumano Kodo we enjoyed relaxing here and Miko did everything possible to make our stay perfect. We have had three weeks in Japan (including two nights at other hotels on the hiking trail) and this was our favourite - it is a very special place. We will hopefully come back to Japan and definitely want to stay at Miko’s again for longer!

It doesn't get much better than this! We've had a fantastic 3-night stay at Komorian, a beautiful house located near the Kumano Kodo trail, which is owned and operated by the wonderful Miko.Miko is a fantastic host who really went above and beyond to ensure our stay was comfortable and relaxing. Already before we arrived, Miko offered detailed advice on how to get to the accomodation that was specific to our needs. She also helped us to arrange a luggage transfer service. From Komorian, hiking the Kumano Kodo trail couldn't be easier. Miko offered great advice on which sections of the trail to hike and when. She would also bring us to the starting point in the morning, and pick us up again in the afternoon after we finished hiking.Miko is an incredible cook, serving us breakfast and dinner every day. We really enjoyed the delicious meals she prepared for us, showcasing the breadth and variation of Japanese cuisine, and which incorporated many products local to the area. Miko is also kind, good-humoured, and fluent in English. We had many memorable conversations with her, and could ask her anything about the local area, Japan, or Japanese culture. The house itself is spacious and elegant, featuring traditional japanese architecture (sliding doors, tatami mats) but with a modern touch. Large windows afford beautiful views of the river located right next to the house. At night, you drift into sleep listening to the tranquil sounds of the flowing river and chirping crickets. The house is well-equiped with a large kitchen, bluetooth speaker, kettle, television, airconditioners, and plenty of plates, cups, and dishes. After a long walk, we really enjoyed having a relaxing bath in the wooden bathtub, and lounging in the living room under the kotatsu (a piece of traditional japanese furniture that combines a couch, table, and futon). All in all, Komorian is a beautiful place with a great host, and is a fantastic accomodation for both serious hikers as well as travellers looking to relax in the Japanese countryside.
