What an amazing experience! Such a welcoming stay at this temple. Dinner and breakfast were both great, as was the morning ceremony and the garden is beautiful. It's not a hotel, isn't claiming to be and isn't advertised as such so I wasn't expecting much but I can't recommend it higher

For Koya-San a great accommodation, very good location, large rooms in traditional style, large bathroom and a wonderful view of a beautiful garden. In the evening you can sit on the terrace and listen to the crickets chirping and taste sake. Before that, take a quick trip to the in-house Sento Herrlich! Anytime again, food (even if vegetarian) very tasty... book the Keodan apartment, a wonderful Japan experience

Very helpful and friendly staff. The rooms were nice, there was a beautiful garden. Our room had a private bathroom. They serve dinner in the room, it was vegetarian but well seasoned. The soup was my favorite

It is an experience in itself in cf monastery. In itself it's very fun with a "monastic" welcome, a room for 4 with a view of a zen garden, a complete but very special shõjin-ryori (vegetarian) dinner, a little trip …

Unfortunately we did not have a nice experience in this pilgrim’s lodging. We booked for two adults and two kids. One of 4 years old. The booking was accepted. Only once there we were told that since the 4 years old was not paying, nothing was provided. We managed with the beds, as 3 futon together are enough for 4. We had dinner at 5:30 (even though we asked it for a later hour) and then took the girls to eat out afterwards as the traditional dinner is not an easy meal for them. When we realized we only had three towels we asked for a forth and the owner denied it as the 4 years old was not paying. We just needed one of their flimsy little towel for the shower. We would have paid for it or bought a decent towel if we were told. Unfortunately they were inflexible. Seen the cost of this place we were expecting a better treatment. The room was an inside room with no windows on the outside. It was hot.Two words on Koyasan: the town has a lot of shops, restaurants, cafes and convenient stores. So there is plenty of food if you have kids and they need other meals. You do find meat or fish as options.
