I booked this hotel because the hotel I wanted to stay at was fully booked, but I'm glad I chose this one. It was cheap and good value. The open-air bath was very nice. The food was also delicious. It was a Japanese-style room, but it was tasteful and relaxing. The front staff was very pleasant and even came to pick me up from the station on the shuttle bus, even if I was alone. There are almost no amenities in the rooms, so please bring your own.

This might be my favourite place we went in Japan. It is a ten minute walk from the train station. The Japanese rooms are awesome and the hot springs are perfect.A bit of onsen etiquette for foreigners. Grab soft shoes from the rack at the back door and make your way to the outdoor onsen.Once inside remove your shoes and go to your genders side. Once naked go outside and shower off before getting in the hot springs. To shower off, stay low as not to splash your neighbors. There are shared benches and wash bins, but people do not use these seats until they have soaped themselves and been in the hotspring. This keeps them reasonably clean for everyone. That's it. Amazing spot 10/10 would go again.A bus ride from some very cool nearby spots

Stayed there in 2017 actually, and it was quite dated. The room I stayed in was spacious and had a nice view. But I found bed bugs the next morning, followed me for the rest of my trip in Japan that I had to throw away most of my stuff and washed everything where I could find a washing machine. It was quite traumatic, hope they’ve replaced the mattresses and cleaned the whole place since I stayed.Do check your mattress before you sleep.

A hotel with a Showa feel. The rooms are well-cleaned so you can rest assured. The view from the open-air bath is very nice. The free-flowing hot springs are also very nice. Because it is located in a cove, you cannot see the sunrise or sunset.

Nanki-Katsuura Onsen Hotel Nagisa is a hot spring inn located in the Nanki-Katsuura Onsen area of Wakayama Prefecture. The location is surrounded by the beautiful sea and nature, and it is characterized by a quiet and calm atmosphere. The guest rooms are Japanese-style, with some rooms overlooking the ocean. For meals, you can enjoy local cuisine made with seasonal ingredients, especially seafood. The hot springs are fed directly from the source, and the quality of the spring water is sodium chloride, which is said to be gentle on the skin. There are open-air baths, indoor baths, and saunas, so you can relax and enjoy the hot springs. There are plenty of tourist spots in the area, including Nanki Shirahama and Nachi Falls.
