I had originally planned during my stay in Bali to spend 3 nights in Nusa Penida.After looking at quite a few hotels on the island I chose Surya Chandra and my decision was made in view of the very positive comments about the welcome, the staff and Léo. I arrived on the island with a little mishap and without Leo, his kindness and his trust I think it would have been very complicated for me.I travel alone and he was really helpful!The hotel is great, the bungalows are really cute, the swimming pool is really very pretty. It's quiet, you can hear almost nothing from the rooms. The sunrise is magnificent. It’s a place where you feel good. There are restaurants not far away and a small grocery store a few meters away.I was supposed to stay 3 nights, I stayed 8 nights in total. I was able to rent my scooter on site and attend a ceremony with dancers from Bali for a show at the temple right next door!Leo's personal kindness is second to none. Thanks again !!I literally arrived crying and left in the same state! (I'm hypersensitive)!I really had a wonderful stay and you clearly contributed to it!Thank you again, take care of yourself and see you soon!!

Nice accommodation, a little away from the hustle and bustle, higher up so you can look out to sea.With pool and loungers.Very nice and friendly employees.For me, however, the price-performance ratio in terms of cleanliness wasn't quite right. If that doesn't bother you, you'll be extremely happy.A few meters further there is a good, well-stocked supermarket

Leo is very informative when it comes to suggesting the places to visit within the time of your stay. We've reached Penida during the noon and Leo suggested to cover East - Diamond Beach on rented bikes. He has good contacts for providing rental bikes; also, we lost our card in the ATM and could find it back with the help of Leo's friend at the Bank. Though many people say that rental bikes are easy to travel; we felt that it's not safe because of the steep roads and hairpin turns. We had fallen twice from the bike because it's a very narrow road and the curves were very dangerous. The bike ride is highly challenging when it gets dark. So, please start early if you're planning to visit Diamond beach (entry ticket included). Another wonderful beach was Keling kling (no entry fee) that needs you to trek around 1.5 - 2 hours with very steep steps. You need to book one day in advance for snorkeling (we missed it) for the first batch (8:30 am).This place is right in the front of the beach (just need to cross the road) and there are restaurants, stores nearby. Few things can make this place more good:1. Free drinking water facility2. In-house restaurant3. Doors were little hard for few rooms

Unfortunately, price-performance is not that good here. Beds are very uncomfortable, the bungalows are extremely noisy (at night it sounds like you are sleeping on the street due to the proximity to the street). The houses are also dirty. There were also stains on the bed linen. Rooms were not cleaned in between. Quite far away from any “sights” on the island.The hotel manager Leo is very friendly and helpful (scooter, ferry and taxi organized). There are two good restaurants nearby (1-2 minutes walk). Distance to the port is good. Bungalow has air conditioning.

Amazingexperience. Leo the manager fantastic , really helpful with a huge smile.Room is spacious and nicely decorated.Read a lot of comment about smell of bathroom, the open wet area etc. Welcome to Bali, do some research, their system is different it's always smell. And wet bathroom ( shower not separated from toilet) just common here. It's good value for money but if you have high expectations, just go to the hotel ~$400 /night

Really enjoy our stay at Surya Chandra.. The room are clean, it smell nice, the big bed is confortable, the staff is very welcoming and helpful, we rent their scooter for 90k/ day and we drive everywhere for cheap fuel expenses.The A/C works well, the hot shower is nice and they also provide us with kettle, cups with coffee and tea.Also they bring us a hair dryer without even having to ask for it. There is a wardrobe with a key to leave you valuable.

Leo the manager is a great person always trying to find the best of what you requestThe bungalows are cute and the beds are comfortable, but they don't have a mini fridge which is a deal breaker for meAlso if you are of an older age or have problems with climbing a lot of stairs, try something elseNo restaurant here not even for breakfast but across the street you ll find 3 restaurants

The location is strategic and close to The Chill and Jukung Restaurant, so just walk 5 to 10 steps to reach your destination... Surprise view in the morning, really friendly staff, the best

Very nice bungalow, unfortunately a lot of noise from the road and buildings around so hard to sleep. Relaxed staff and had to tell about cleaning, despite that neither towels, sheets or the like were changed. Stayed here for 3 days, the pool was cloudy, dirty and hot so could not swim in. Helpful when booking a moped and boat trip.
