Great little place, first time overseas, was warmly welcomed and felt comfortable. Nice little room, warm and clean. Fantastic access to the snow fields only a 5 min walk away with a coffee or tea in hand, no complaints at all 👍🏻👍🏻

The Mountain Jam hostel is run by an energetic woman by the name of Itsumi. Her home style cooking is fabulous and has rubbed off on her son, who owns the Jam Cafe situated directly in front of the hostel. …

Very comfortable room, very good quiet gas heater in the room kept the room at the perfect cozy temperature. Everything was clean, well stocked and well maintained including the shared restrooms. Great location close to the lifts and restaurants. Nice lady running the hotel gave us a lift to the train station on checkout very early in the morning for an early train since buses weren't operating so early. Would definitely return again.

We chose Mountain Jam for its budget rate during the ski season. The location was FANTASTIC! And overall our stay was perfect. I'm so glad we found somewhere we could easily afford.Private room:Our room was very comfortable with space for two twin beds, a couch, a table, and two clothes hangers. The heater made the room cosy, as did the thick blankets on the bed. There was a kettle and coffee/tea.Bathroom:The bathroom is shared. There are 2 unisex toilets and 1 male toilet. Toilets were clean (and the seats heated) and always had plenty of toilet paper. The women's shower is communal with two shower heads and a bath that is full and heated from 4pm. The door has a lock so you can choose to shower privately if you prefer. There was shampoo, conditioner and body wash.Facilities:WiFi is good and free. There is a dining area, laundry, hairdryer. You can leave baggage by the check in desk. Check in isn't until 3pm as per most properties in Japan. Slippers are provided and there is a room to store wet clothing, shoes and ski/snowboard gear as you enter.

We had a pleasant stay at the jam. The staffers are very kind and friendly (especially we have two little active kids.) Easy access to everything! The room is a bit old also the wall is a bit thin. Since my kids cry a lot at night, I was a bit concerned. But everything else is just fine.We ordered both breakfast and dinner at Jam, it was a lot easier than going out with kids to look for restaurants! The at home feeling made us really relaxed!

The lodge it self is fairly central in upper Hirafu, close to shops and walking distance to the lifts. However there is a night club less than 10meters down the road and we just happened to stay there during one of their raves. …

Cafe and bar with a chilled atmosphere. Staffs there can speak English quite well and are ready to give you a service.

I stayed overnight without meals. The bath and toilet are shared, but they are kept warm enough to keep you warm and not too cold. There is also a convenience store nearby, and you can purchase meals outside. The cost performance is excellent.

It's a budget B&B, and it's close to the ski resort, only a 5-minute walk away. The room is relatively clean, but it smells of cigarette smoke (not a smoker's room). …
