It's a nice simple place to stay with a good homey feel. The staff has been amazingly friendly and accommodating, and was a great help with information, booking taxis, and also with being friendly to simply talk to. If I go to Niseko again, I will stay with them again!

We had a very pleasant stay at Niseko Ski Lodge Higashiyama for 3 nights (ensuite, twin single beds). The room and lodge were cosy and breakfast provided made it convenient in the mornings before going to the snow. The lodge was very affordable, however one thing to note was the location, which was about 5 minutes walk from the nearest bus stop (bus called Niseko United Shuttle and frequents ~once per hour in the snow season). There are also limited food options around in walking distance, so would recommend the Black Diamond Lodge restaurant nearby (5 mins walk away) or to bring some microwave food from town. There are hot water, microwave facilities, dining, cutlery and crockery facilities available for guests.Despite the above, the slightly inconvenient location was compensated with great service from the staff! The lodge staff were friendly, and made life easier with: 1) helping facilitate rental equipment pick up by Rhythm after we checked out, and 2) dropping us off with our luggage at a nearby pickup point for our bus ride to Sapporo (only available if stay is booked directly through the website). Thanks for making this a great stay! :)

I came here on a solo trip as the last leg of a 17 day trip in Hokkaido. ||Starting with the lodge itself, the building is a cute standard lodge with 3 floors, the base floor has rooms, the ski equipment room, 2 shower rooms, and laundry …

Really affordable lodge. We got a room for our family of five. We each got a single bed and they are comfy. If you don’t drive (we didn’t), the location can be a bit of challenge. If you arrive after 5pm in the evening, make sure you bring food because there are no shops around. But we love it! So peaceful and the mountains are served by the Niseko shuttle that runs every hour. The bus stop is less than 5 mins away.

TL;DR great staff, ok location, uncomfortable room. The staff were all extremely helpful, friendly, and knowledgeable of the local area with some great recommendations. It was a shame during our stay they weren't offering cooked breakfast or other meals due to staff shortage. My wife and I had a double room with private ensuite. The room itself was alright but two factors made it a very uncomfortable stay. First, the bed was a super soft mattress with an even softer foam topper. In all the hotels from springy motels in the US to rock firm beds in India, this was the most uncomfortable for me which came as quite a surprise. I don't know if I can fault the lodge for it, I'm sure someone loves their bed like that, but it really kept waking me up.Second, the radiator in our room had the heat cranked to maximum for our entire stay. We asked about this on the first day because walking in it was really stiflingly hot and the settings on the radiator didn't seem to do anything and we were told the heat is set for the entire lodge. We had to have a window open every night just for it to be a livable temperature in that room which is obviously a massive waste of energy and money and added to the discomfort trying to sleep. The location was alright. I would recommend you rent a car if you come to Niseko and stay at a lodge like this. There are truly only a few restaurants in walking distance, all but one lift requires a bus and buses come roughly once an hour and stop at 8pm. That's rough when most restaurants open at 6. We managed with the buses and it wasn't terrible but I wouldn't do it the same way again. If you have access to a car I think the location is very central and quite great.
