Best hostel I've stayed at in Japan. Fantastic vibes, very social. Cool building, beer tap. Dirk is an absolute chiller, basically takes care of everything you could need (rentals, transport, etc). Will 100% be back, only place I'd stay for niseko united.

The atmosphere, the service of Dirk and the other employees, the people I met there. After three nights I know I will return here in the future. Even though it is a bit on the outside, they drove us to and from the ski resort every day. Will never chiose a different place to stay for future visits to Niseko.Thank you so much Moiwa Lodge for an unforgettable stay!

It is an understatement to say that this is best place to stay for either your first or any ski trip to Niseko area. The staff is unbelievably kind, cheerful and helpful with everything. They make you feel so welcome. The lodge having a drying room for equipment, breakfast and dinners is makes everything so easy.Would recommend over and over.

Awesome place to stay and get away from the high traffic area of Niseko. Had some good days at Moiwa mtn and was able to explore the other resorts. The staff are super friendly and were able to help with getting around. The local bar upstairs also serves great food and great place to meet people!

A nice location with staff who were on a massive power trip.A group of us were staying at lodge 834 and were looking to have a nice drink, a few minutes after we had sat down we were told by a number of people that because we weren't staying there we had to leave.. even though we had been invited by the bar tender, a member of our party had been invited after having met him on the slopes (Nao). We mentioned this and it was ignored, they continued to aggressively tell us to leave even though we were saying we had been invited, they said they worked there, they continued to mentioned they worked their and had authority to kick us out. They said we had to leave even though they were wearing nothing to identify themselves and had no ID's but said when asked if they work there "we've clocked off" and not to lecture them when we told them they were being aggressive. Once Nao stepped In and said we were invited the workers stepped down, although they continued to whisper to themselves and gesture towards us. A number of us spoke to people throughout the bar who all said they had issues with the way we were treated and how aggressive the Australian staff were, aswell as having witnessed they're poor interactions with other customers in the past. A number of times in the space of 1-2 hours we were told the bar was closing (this was at 7-8PM) and we had to leave and were stopped from orderig even though other people were ordering drinks. Once one of our party were kicked out I went outside and saw a number of these people accosting him.An Australian in a long sleeved Monash uni shirt, and female Australian with long curly hair with curly hair and a Wu tongue shirt aswell as her brother (he mentioned he was her brother) with bald hair were the main perpetrators. It's a pretty clear indicator when Nao the bar tender is apologising to us as the Australian staff were rough housing one of our party that the actions of the staff was inappropriate. The lodge itself looked nice, and Nao was very accommodating.

As an experienced traveler, I've encountered my fair share of hostels, but never have I experienced such abhorrent behavior as I did at Moiwa Lodge. Let me paint a vivid picture of the horror show that unfolded during my stay.Firstly, let's address the elephant in the room: the staff. It's not often that you come across a group of individuals so utterly lacking in professionalism and basic human decency. From the moment I stepped foot into the hostel, it was abundantly clear that the Australian staff members were not just incompetent, but actively hostile, questioning me on my reason of being there in a passive-aggressive manner.Instead of the warm welcome one might expect, I was greeted with sneers and disdain. It seemed as though they viewed guests not as valued patrons, but as inconveniences to be tolerated at best. Their attitudes were as unwelcoming as they were unapologetic. But the real kicker came when one of the staff members, presumably fueled by liquid courage or just plain idiocy, attempted to start a physical altercation later on in the night. Yes, you read that correctly. In what universe is it acceptable for hostel staff to try and provoke guests into a fight? It was a disgraceful display of unprofessionalism that left me feeling unsafe.Beyond the appalling behavior of the staff, the hostel itself was a shambles. The atmosphere was tense and uncomfortable, undoubtedly exacerbated by the toxic attitudes of the staff. In conclusion, I wouldn't recommend Moiwa Hostel to my worst enemy due to the appalling staff behaviour. Save yourself the headache and seek out alternative accommodations where you'll be treated with the respect and dignity you deserve as a traveler.Yet, on a positive note, the bartender and bar manager is a master of mixology and hospitality. With every pour, they deliver not just drinks, but genuine warmth and expertise. A visit to the bar here is a delightful immersion into the art of cocktails and the beauty of hospitality.
