20230906The campground is currently closed.There are water stations and toilets.I visited here to get off to Maibara Beach.However, there are no showers, so I recommend entering from the neighboring Maibara.In Maibara, you can take a shower for 200 yen.

More than 30 years ago, while cycling across Japan, I heard about Maibara from a traveler in Hokkaido, and came to this place with fond memories.Since then, it has become a sacred place of my youth, where I stayed for long periods almost every year during my student days.After that, it became a training ground for Aum Shinrikyo's summer camp and fell into disarray.It was in the summer of 1995 that I burst into tears over the desolate Maibara. When I visited Maibara for the first time in 28 years, I found it blocked off by a fence, parking had to be paid, the number of houses had increased, and it was full of money worshipers. The number of beach users has also increased with families, and the atmosphere has changed to a seemingly healthy one. Of course camping is prohibited. At that time, we received mail, and there were long-term residents with unique personalities, which made me think about life. At night, you can join someone's drinking party on the beach and tell the time by looking at the inclination of the constellations, and when you take a walk in the morning, Hijikata invites you to work part-time.The ingredients are blue papaya, and if you procure ingredients from the sea, you can save money for food. I was able to do it cheaply.I felt strongly that my youth was over.Farewell, days of youth.

When I visited here seven years ago, there were still some tents and people camping.But since then, the liveliness of the past has completely disappeared, and I've started to feel lonely.Due to the influence of the coronavirus over the past few years, camping is now prohibited.There's really no sign of anyone anymore. In the kitchen, the faucets were rusted and no water came out, making it scorching.On the coast, except for the snorkeling tour guests enjoying marine leisure, most of the people were tourists who came for a walk. There are really no people left.It feels so good to lie down on a rug in the shade of a tree and listen to the sound of the waves. There were no crucian bugs, and probably because it was mid-morning, there were no itchy insects. I took a nap for a while.I like it here because there's a nice shade of trees where you can lie down while looking at the ocean. Although camping is no longer possible, it is an important place that I would like to visit again.

In front of the campsite, the parking lot is on the left!It's better not to go at all! !A half-grey-looking man came out of a black ODYSSEY and suddenly put out his hand and said, ``Money!'' ``Eh? The tide is low, so I'll take a look and then decide.'' I replied, ``Then get out!'' When I tried to make a U-turn, he said, ``Back up!'' I'll take your money!'' he yelled some dirty words.The insects must have been in a really bad place, but that's impossible.The mother sitting in the passenger seat was completely frightened, and I felt frightened by her behavior as if she were a yakuza.I felt like he was going to hit me and I didn't know what he was going to do, so I quickly left the area.I was so scared that I couldn't take any photos or even go to the campsite.It's outrageous.I heard later that the campsite was a nice place.

A very unpleasant woman came out.Before commenting on the beach, I don't think I'll ever go to a place where someone like that is involved again, and I can't recommend it.

The campsite was closed and there was no signboard indicating that. The gates and other facilities were open so we thought there are no other campers because it’s a rainy season and the weather was not the best. Anyway, we camped there for one night and next day afternoon someone left a noye saying that campsite was closed. In a nutshell, the campsite is beautiful but the information was not updated and there wasno way communicatinf to the poeple who run it.

This is the place where I have fond memories of camping for 10 days in late September 1997. A local man taught us to swim along the reef, and we saw a lot of coral and large and small fish. I wonder how things are going now.

I spent 2 weeks there with my family in December 2016. A wonderful memory. Camp under the tall trees with a view of the beautiful beach. There were toilets and a cold outdoor shower at the free campsite (and possibility of hot shower for a fee at the neighboring guesthouse). Beautiful snorkeling. Admirable people lived there alone and independently. We had a car but there was also a regular bus

It's shallow and has a lot of coral, so it's pretty good for snorkeling. It's also quite a 1 minute walk from the paid parking lot.

20190515When I tried to sleep in my car at the campsite, I couldn't get in and there was a lifeguard in the parking lot.I guess I'll have to submit it in advance after all.

Unfortunately, it was a typhoon with strong northerly winds, making it very difficult to swim. According to the fire department guard, it might be possible to swim at the south beach.

Although it is a familiar place for tourists, it is not crowded and is very comfortable.Snorkeling is recommended when the tide is low. There are warning signs on site, but please be careful of reef currents (rip currents) and enjoy your time here. There are also many corals. The palms of your hands are usually fine, but if other parts of your body touch the coral, you may get a rash, so we recommend wearing a rash guard or a shirt when entering the sea. Don't forget to wear your floating vest too.
