Old cottages are quite dangerous for people with weak bronchial tubes or house dust allergies.I went there with my dog for two nights during Golden Week. The room environment was so bad that I had to cancel one night, and my schedule for Golden Week was almost completely cancelled...Even though I had come all the way to Tochigi, I had to return home in the morning.Details below. The facilities other than the room were sufficient as I understood the concept of experiencing a Showa school. You can also easily rent a washing machine, which was great for my family who wanted to lighten their luggage even for just two nights.but.Unfortunately, the room was at a dangerous level. My family doesn't want to stay in that old cottage even if they say they'll give us 1 million yen in the future. (The information is about the old folk house, not the annex)My first impression when I unlocked the padlock and entered the room was, ``The way the dust is flying is unusual!'' ! "is.It can't be helped because it's an old private house, but there are no screens on any of the windows, so I can't open the windows to ventilate, considering that the front lights that come in in the evening attract insects.I don't think there is regular ventilation. When I went up to the loft, I saw a large amount of futons piled up in the dust, and when I patted them down, a huge bulge appeared...Considering this was a Showa era experience, this was just within the acceptable range, but for people who hate insects, it's a completely scary experience, so you should stay with that in mind. The following is the final decision to cancel.First of all, to date, no one in my family has asthma. I have a strong respiratory system.I left my luggage in the room and went to eat right away, but at that point something strange happened to my eldest son.My eyes were itchy and I was having a hard time breathing.I was in the room for a short time to put my things and organize them, so maybe the dust got into my eyes? Don't rub it. At that point, I was still taking it lightly and had my family wash their eyes thoroughly in the bathroom. After the kids were in bed, I was planning the next day's plans with my husband, and my eldest son's breathing became rough and he started coughing, and I couldn't even keep his eyes open. Gradually, my husband started to feel uncomfortable, and so did I.My eldest son was in such pain that he started crying and said, ``I want to go home right now.'' At that point, it was around 10 p.m., and I was seriously debating whether or not I should go back to Tokyo. Usually when I go on a trip, I think, ``I want to stay here forever!'' My eldest son keeps saying, 'I want to go home.'I had driven to Tochigi early that morning, and thinking it would be dangerous to return now, I made my eldest son wear a mask and called the front desk, hoping they could at least use an air purifier. We managed to find one, so we set up a high-power (noisy 😭) air purifier in the middle of everyone's futons and forced ourselves to sleep. When I woke up in the morning, my whole body and respiratory system felt dusty. In the evening, I came to the conclusion that I couldn't stay two nights, and when I contacted the front desk, they told me that they would refund the first night's stay without a cancellation fee, so I carried my luggage for the two nights back to my car and headed home...Although I received a refund for one of the two nights, I was really sad because more than half of my Golden Week plans, which I had been looking forward to, were thrown out of order.I think it's probably only the old folk houses that are in poor condition. It's a DIY house that was probably a really run-down old house in the middle of a hill that doesn't get much sunlight, and the only way to ventilate it is with a small ventilation fan, which also traps mold and dust. The exhibition space, which used to be an elementary school, seemed to be kept clean and well-maintained by the staff, and when I was having trouble with the western sun shining in the restaurant, the staff went out of their way to move umbrellas to block the sun. I did.The staff were all friendly and nice, so I can't help but feel sorry for the misery of the old cottage. If you think about the health of the people staying there, I think they should at least seal off that old cottage, clean it, install a screen door, and create a way to ventilate it.There was so much mold and dust floating around, and there was so much dust on the bedding that I didn't know what to do...Other than the room, it was fun with a Showa concept, so please take this review into consideration when choosing a room in an old private house. This is the opinion of my family, who are not that particular about cleanliness.Oh, and the room is really dark.Even so, I was really sad that my plans for Golden Week, when my husband was the only one with almost no time off, were disrupted.
