We had 5 weeks in Japan and this retreat was just our lucky punch!! Yasu was absolutly great- every little whish was accomplished. He called us taxis, reserved restaurants- I couldn’t have met a better host! So please do not believe this negative comment of the host mentioning her bad experiences. We were here as a family and will recommend Wabi Sabi to our friends. Thanks for having us at this beautiful oasis!! Love it!!

I feel very misled by what we booked. Maybe it’s because it’s not the height of the season but there was almost nothing around. Two or three mediocre restaurants within walking distance and closest supermarket 3km away. They Dont have bikes to rent so you can’t really get anywhere unless you have a car, the on site cafe is no longer open, surf boards we rented were very bad. This is not a retreat, not sure why it’s called that, it’s a few self-catering very basic cottages. The futons were terrible- so thin we barely slept and there are windows everywhere with cheap blinds that let in so much light there’s no way to sleep. Also the property has flood lighting in the garden that doesn’t turn off until midnight so the room is super bright until midnight and then again with the sunrise, although the futons were so uncomfortable I guess we wouldn’t have slept anyway…For the price I would have hoped for better.

Very nice and clam retreat near the beach. We rent a cottage which was big enough for 2 adults and 2 children. The host was very kind and helpful. The cottage was clean, convenient and is close to beaches (5 min of walk). We appreciated very well our stay.

The restaurant here has the best food I have ever had. I always look forward to eating here while in Shimoda. We would plan our vacation around their times to ensure we could eat here. That is how amazing it is!! If you are looking for amazing (typically plant based) food this is the place for you.

Driving distance to the sea. In that case, it would be better to have well-equipped rooms and facilities even if you are far from the sea. Owners are nice

What a great stay! We stayed at Wabi-Sabi over the weekend and slept in one of the cottages. It was wonderful. Angela and Yasu were fantastic hosts. The food is super delicious, regional, organic and freshly prepared with our own ingredients. The cottage was very clean and equipped with everything you needed to be happy for a relaxing weekend. It is surrounded by greenery, is totally quiet and it is only an 8-minute walk to the beach. Conclusion: great retreat, we are guaranteed to be back!

When I went there in the summer, the atmosphere was reminiscent of Ubud in Bali. But the accessories are Thai miscellaneous goods. The large terrace is open and comfortable. When I went there, I got the impression that there were mostly overseas guests. It's a vegan dish, so people who don't like it should avoid it.

I had really beautiful time in this place. Beautiful accommodation very close to a beautiful beach. Enjoyed the walk to the beach, the sea water are clear and great for swimming. The owners are great hosts. The house it self is very clean and comfortable with lovely mountain views. Can't wait to be back, Thank you so much.
