This is an excellent traditional ryokan onsen hot spring resort to stay at. The service was excellent from beginning to end, with friendly and meticulous care from entering to exiting. Jiban at the front was friendly and helpful and could speak English. Rita in the dining room was also able to speak English and provided great service along with Kazumi who took great care of us at meal times. The food was unique haute traditional Japanese kaiseki style, which will include food that some foreigners may have never encountered. We requested the sukiyaki dinner for the second night and were impressed with the consistent outstanding presentation and quality of the food. We had been told there was a LOT of food and we skipped lunch and were glad we did. Breakfast and dinner were provided. The rooms were nicely laid out and equipped, and we even had a private wooden bath in our suite. Yukata and tenugui mini towels with bags were provided for us to use and wear, on and off site. The views were pleasant whether it was a room at the front viewing the street, or at the back facing the rocks and bamboo of the hillside. The entire resort was very quiet. The onsen hot spring baths were excellent and open all the time except over lunch hours for cleaning. There was plenty of space and we never found them that busy. There were indoor and covered outdoor sections available. There was also a reasonably priced rentable private onsen area for families and couples if they would like. There were some areas of the rooms and onsen that could use some updating and care, but they were minor. The only other down side was that wifi was only available in the lobby. Overall the facility and experience were outstanding and provided at a good price. They have a free shuttle to/from the bus station, but it is a very short walk. The location is perfect for easily walking around town.

The rooms and hot springs were good. The rice is a little weird. The food service was sloppy and worrisome since it was a foreign employee.I had a bad impression because the other accommodation I stayed at was very good.

I stayed at my favorite Osakaya in Kusatsu for the first time in a while. Located in a prime location close to Yubatake, the building has a historical feel to it, the service is high quality yet friendly, the authentic Japanese cuisine is served, and the hot springs are drawn directly from the source, making them unique to Kusatsu. This time too, I was able to heal the fatigue of my mind and body. Let's look forward to it and do our best until the next time we come back.

The woman at the reception is the worst. When I asked him for the keys to the car I had left with him, he got a blatant look on his face and handed it to me, holding it between his index finger and thumb as if he was holding something dirty.after that…It was the same woman who took me to my room and served me tea, but this time I was surprised by her smile and friendly attitude...She was a woman in her 50s with a big belly. The others were very nice! The facilities seem to be poorly maintained and cannot be repaired. Also, the cleaning is poor. The cooking is also often cut corners.I thought it must be very difficult.I would like the management to do their best for the Southeast Asian waitress who was working very hard.I will go again next time, so please improve!

My best friend, who knows my taste in Japanese architecture, made the reservation for me. I didn't have high expectations at first because of the price (¥19,800 for 1 night and 2 meals), but the brochure was elegant and fashionable, so I was looking forward to it. I was surprised when I arrived. The building was built with ``Sagaidashi beams'', which reminded me of Kusatsu Onsen in the Edo period, and the rooms were clean and spacious, with a separate room and even a small tea room. Moreover, the walls are plaster walls, which I love. I'm picky about the taste, but considering the price, I was satisfied. One of the staff members was knowledgeable about the history of the inn through his own inquisitive mind, which made our stay enjoyable. I will go back and recommend it to my friends. I only go to certain favorite ryokan, but I added it to my favorites.

I've been interested in this place for a while, and this is my first time staying here. The atmosphere of the building is very nice from the outside. When you step inside, it feels quiet and spacious. It feels a little old, but overall it seems to have been kept clean. The room is very spacious and the windows are large so you can relax. What surprised me this time was that there were many foreign staff members. There were some people whose Japanese was difficult to understand, but the person who gave us information about meals etc. spoke a little quickly, but I was surprised at how well he spoke Japanese. It was very convenient and close to Yubatake.I was disappointed that I couldn't meet Mr. Yumori. I wanted him to come out and say hello. .(I went with JR's local hot spring plan...)

When we arrived at the inn, we were greeted by the dignified building and the staff. The building is "old" in a good sense, but it's not at all shabby, and the carpets are clean and well-maintained.There were several foreigners working there, and I was impressed by how hospitable they all were, and how politely they served customers. It's about a minute walk from Yubatake, so although it's not right in front of me, I was able to spend a quiet time there. When you open the windows of your guest room or private dining room, you can hear the various sounds of the hot spring town in the distance, creating an indescribably pleasant atmosphere.I see some people giving low ratings for the lack of background music in private dining rooms, but on the other hand, wouldn't it be lacking in taste and atmosphere if there was bad background music? I thought. When choosing a ryokan, I was hesitant to choose one with a view of the hot spring fields, but in the end I was able to stay in a quiet and relaxing place, so I'm glad I chose Osakaya. There are many attractive ryokan inns in Kusatsu Onsen, so I would like to stay at other ryokan, but I would definitely like to come back to Osakaya again.
