The temperature is about 8 degrees lower than the urban area, and the night is cold. A sleeping mat is not enough, so additional heating equipment is needed. The living efficiency of wood is not as good as that of a gas tank, so it is recommended to use a gas tank stove.

Visited on September 27, 2020The next morning's temperature was predicted to be around 16 degrees, so we added a tarp to the Solo Dome, but it became cloudy during the night and the temperature dropped to around 20 degrees.Since it was Friday, there were only 5 solo campers at site C, including myself. Site B has 3 berths for consecutive nights. The view of Mt. Korea and the pampas grass was amazing.

Use site B.The bottom was grass and comfortable. It's well maintained and clean overall.Site fees are also cheap. It's a long way to the convenience store, so it's better to buy things first. After that, it gets very cold at night.Even in the summer, cold weather gear is a must.

The management seems to have changed, and there are many differences from about 10 years ago.A lot of maintenance has been done, and Site C in the Yamate area has been transformed from a wooded area to a pleasant area with well-developed roads and sites.Kevin hasn't used it, but it seems much cleaner and more convenient. The area is divided into 3 main areas: the Kevin site, and the flatland/yamate campsite. It's not an auto site, but I had a cart and it wasn't a problem unless it was a Yamate site. It's basically an old-fashioned campsite, so there were no auto sites, no power, you had to take your trash home with you, and the only baths you could take were showers until 5pm, but I didn't feel any inconvenience. In fact, I personally recommend it because it is located at a high altitude, is cool in the summer, has a grove of trees, has a nice atmosphere in the morning and evening, and is reasonably priced. If you want to improve one thing, it's the usual management. There was a problem with the kitchen at the Yamate site, and the bathtub had glass in it, making it unusable, but given the busy season, shouldn't improvements have been made sooner rather than later?

It is located at an altitude of 1200m. The site was free and easy to use. You can rent a rear car, but it's a bit run down and heavy.

This campground is located within easy walking distance of the visitor center for the hike up Mount Kirishima. If you're planning on climbing the mountain and looking for a place to stay, this campground is a wonderful choice. It's rather large, the prices are low, and the location is ideal.Unlike many campgrounds, you can contact the office for this one via LINE chat, so it's very easy to make reservations. You should make reservations if it's a summer weekend, just in case they fill up. I stayed in the free tent area and was quite happy with it. There are two locations for free camping, one is in a protected valley which would be good if the winds are strong and your gear is questionable, or if you have a lot of gear, and the other is up on the hillside, which will give you better views if the weather is good. You cannot drive your car up to the campsites. However, there are carts that you can use to ferry gear. The campground has covered cooking areas, picnic tables, benches, and a fairly new bathhouse that looks wonderful. There is one vending machine on site, but you'll want to do most of your shopping before you come up to the mountains. The convenience store up at the lodge sells some food, but selection is limited and they close at 5:00 p.m.

The temperature is low due to the high altitudeEven in May, it can be quite cold at night, so don't forget to take measures against the cold.
