I felt at home and relaxed. I was happy that the food was simple and made with local ingredients. Please bring your own amenities. However, when you go by car, be careful as the navigation will guide you down a strange road and you will be in trouble if you rush into the hot spring town.

I haven't been there in a while since the Shinyu Pairlift is no longer available, but I think that's why it's the best restaurant for a quiet meal.Although I have never stayed there, I think it is a very convenient inn for skiing as it is directly connected to Utopia & Shaded Area.In winter, a special snowmobile will pick you up from the parking lot at the foot of the mountain.

Loved my stay at the lodge. Right near Hikage Gondela, easy to get first lifts and fresh tracks back to the lodge on a pow day. Lovely family run lodge with strong connection with Alberg region in Austria. Shared bathrooms were not an issue, never had to wait. A few restaurant options available in the evening around the lodge + a bar with bar food. Pleasant walk (20 mins) back up the hill if you spend evening in town. It’s a magical spot.

We stayed three nights at Lodge Hahnenkamm (mid Feb) and had the best experience possible. Great location for skiing as it is dirctly located at the slopes (rental with top notch skis possible). Even tough it is at Hikage Station it is convenient to go to the village (take the Yu Road / „moving walk“). The rooms are cosy, clean and gives you the perfect lodge / mountain hut feeling. Very friendly and helpful staff who also gave us a ride to the bus station in the early morning after check out. I highly recommend to eat at the lodge. We had excellent dishes every evening and the breakfast is also great. 10 out of 10!

My wife and I have been coming to Japan skiing since 2010 and have been to 14 different resorts and have tried a variety of accommodations. For us, Nozawa Onsen, Lodge Hahnenkamm and the Kono family are THE BEST!!! The location in the middle of the slopes, adjacent to the Hikagi slope provides perfect ski in/out access to the Hikagi Gondola. The size of the Lodge provides an all round, intimate, Japanese experience. We wouldn't consider staying anywhere else.

A really nice Pension, very friendly and warm-hearted owner and staff... The food is delicious and made with love :) Its just in front of the slopes and to the village center its only a few steps because there is the Yu Road moving walkway. I can definitely recommend the Hahnenkamm!

Excellent family run small lodge. The hosts are very generous with their advice and the service is exemplary. The food is 10/10 and I can't say enough good things about Hahnenkamm. It's a gem and it's our go-to hotel whenever we're in Nozawa.

Great accommodation for skiing--literally ski from the front door to the gondola, and then from the slopes back directly to the lodge?'s front door. Really friendly employees. Rooms are pretty basic, with old squeaky beds, but you'll probably be so tired from the skiing you'll fall asleep anyway. Well worth the price.
