I haven't stayed there, but I will review it.The day before my stay, I had to cancel due to various circumstances, so when I called, I couldn't get through on the phone at all, and the person who finally answered the phone was very rude.I was asked the same question over and over again, perhaps because I was hard of hearing, and it seemed difficult to communicate.I can't help but wonder what the person was doing to answer the phone, but it seemed like customer service was difficult.I don't want to stay here.

Lovely ryokan. The room turned out to be much prettier than what shown in the photos on google maps. They give you the yukata and haori for pyjama and they were so nice. One of very few ryokan with there own onsen and the water was steaming hot. The place offer 2 free meals per day and it's also the thing i love the most about it. The ladies prepare incredible breakfast and dinner set that include fresh, nutritious and mouth watering components, each have their own little chinaware that look so fine and elegant you can feel how much they have an eye for detail here. I had 1 dinner with sukiyaki and 1 with shabu shabu and everything really satisfied me. The only thing i don't like about the place is the old grumpy man whom I reckon to be the owner. The 2 ladies was great, she took good care of us and even gave us some salt to sanitize our throat as she knew we were coughing.

The building is old, but the hot springs are the best, with real free-flowing water drawn from hemp baths. Both meals can be enjoyed in a relaxed manner rather than a buffet!

The owner of this ryokan is an old man who is super rude to its guests (Maybe only foreign guests). When we arrived, there were no one at the reception so we rang the bell a few times. An old drunk man who could not even walked a straight line came out slowly and yelled at us in Japanese asking us to get out. We told him we had a booking and he still asked us out and did not let us check in very rudely. As he could not speak any English, we spent like 15 minutes to understand what he was saying. He said we were late for check-in as we came at 10pm. He showed us a paper stating we would arrive at 4pm but actually we were not even asked about the arrival time when we booked the hotel on Agoda. I did not know where the 4pm arrival time came. The info of this hotel shown on Agoda is 24 hour room service so I assumed we could arrive anytime but obviously we were wrong about that. We kept apologising which I did not know why we had to do that. We were the guests and paid USD 1200 for 6 nights! Even if we were "late" we should not be treated like that. But anyways he gave us the key at the end. This gave us a very terrible experience in staying in this hotel. On the remaining days, this old man did not even give us a smile whenever we met. We were even afraid to ask him for help and see him...Also he got a dog in the common area, which will bark fiercely whenever it sees people. It scared me every time I passed by the common area. People cannot avoid going to the common area as it is situated at the main entrance and if we need to go to the shared bathroom, Onsen and restaurant, we need to pass by it and the dog will just bark at us, which is absolutely. We lived on the second floor and could still hear its barking. You can imagine how noisy this crazy dog is...Our room was not tidied or cleaned even though we stayed there for 6 nights. I am not sure if that is normal for ryokan in Japan. However, the hallway and the common area stink a little bit. Pretty irritating to be honest.Other than the above, the staff are nice, food is good, Onsen is great. However, this hotel is still very disappointing. Treat it as your last resort. Book it only if you cannot book any other hotels in Nozawa.

The location, rooms and onsen are exceptional. Our stay was among one of my favorite during our adventure in Japan. They even offer discount lift tickets at the front desk. Upon arrival, the host was so kind and showed us around to all the vicinities, and the meals were VERY traditional.

The entire reception lobby managed by an old man stinks piss. The old man’s big dog kept on barking for no reason at any time of day, scaring away some customers and waking everyone up at night. If you don’t mind the bad smell and the cold, unfriendly service, the location is great and the natural hot bath pretty authentic and relaxing.

Mid-January 2024, 2 people, 2 nights with 2 meals, 8 tatami mat toilet, hallway and washroom on the garden side, very cheap price of 50,000 yen. Is it because it doesn't appear on Rakuten or Booking.com? There was a vacant room.I arrived before 11 a.m., but I was able to use the room, change my clothes, store my luggage, and it was cheap because I bought a discount lift for guests. The futon is laid out. Yukata with 2 days worth of amenitiesSome reviews said that the smell of dogs was bothersome, but I didn't notice it because I also have a dog (lol). There is a big dog next to the entrance lobby, but sometimes it barks and sometimes it's quiet. The bath is great. The men's bath is divided into lukewarm and hot water, giving it a nice atmosphere. It seems that the women's bath is not separated into a bathtub. Two meals are included, which is a few thousand yen difference compared to staying overnight without meals. Please understandAs you can see in the photo, it's not luxurious, but it's enough. Iwagyo sake is an additional 2,000 yen.The location is excellent, right next to the bus terminal, a few minutes from the center (Oyu)Even when the phone rings, I rarely answer it.It's enough to ski, eat, and wander around town.
