My family of four used the penthouse. It's spacious, beautiful and stylish. The home appliances are up-to-date so you can stay as if you were living there.Good location and friendly staff. There's an outdoor bath right in front of you, so you won't have to worry about finding a hot spring!I would like to use it again.

We stayed in the largest apartment type. There is a kitchen, so you can cook most of your meals by bringing your own ingredients. All cooking utensils and tableware are provided. The parking lot was about a 5 minute walk up a steep slope, which was very inconvenient. I can't temporarily park in front of the hotel, so it's very painful not being able to unload my luggage. If your desired breakfast time is before 7:30, breakfast will not be served and you will receive a boxed lunch. If you book without breakfast, you will have to cook your own meals in the morning. There is no bath, only a shower room. There is no elevator in the building, only stairs. There is no staff at times other than check-in, which is especially troublesome when checking out in the morning. There was no one there when I left. They came from different places after about 10 minutes of searching.

Much used foam mattress, noisy heating, small wc and wrong tips for supper at their own sushi restaurant. Excellent location, though, but the experience was overpriced. We would probably not go again.

An Exceptional Haven in Nozawa OnsenTanuki Lodge surpassed all expectations during our recent stay. From the first moment, the hospitality at Tanuki Lodge impressed us. The staff went above and beyond, effortlessly assisting with dinner reservations, navigating the intricacies of Nozawa's many onsens, and picking up our luggage from the bus stop. The beds were super comfy. The view from our window, overlooking the charming street, added a touch of local flavor to our haven.Breakfast and coffee were exceptional, setting the tone for each day's adventures. We only had one dinner there and it was well priced and delicious.Above everything the warmth and attentiveness of the staff at Tanuki Lodge made all the difference. They weren't just helpful, they were genuinely friendly and invested in ensuring our stay was memorable. Every interaction, from booking dinners to simply receiving directions, was imbued with a genuine smile and willingness to go the extra mile. Kudos to whoever chose & trained the staff this season. ✨

A fantastic location right in the heart of Nozawa Onsen. In the morning, you are steps away from the hikage gondola. At night, you simply step out the door to the Main Street. This place has everything a bar - breakfast - dinner - store - ski storage. The staff spoke English and are very helpful. Answering emails months before we even got here.If we are fortunate enough to come back to Japan - We will for sure stay at tanuki again.
